ssh and limits on resources
While logging in via ssh (versions 1.2.17 and 1.2.12) under Linux 2.0, I found that limits weren''t being set (as shown by the output of "limit" (tcsh) or "ulimit -a" (bash). Since /etc/profile, /etc/csh.cshrc, and /etc/limits were ignored, I made /etc/sshrc and put "ulimit" statements in it. However, I was unable to limit the number of processes this way,

pentium f00f crash and IP fragment bug crash fixes...
these are both fixed in 2.0.32-pre4 and 2.1.63. The 2.0.32-pre4 stuff seems very solid, though the f00f bug fix is not proper for SMP machines yet. It looks like 2.0.32-pre5 fixes the f00f bug on SMP machines properly. All of these are available on ftp.kernel.org: ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/testing/pre-patch-2.0.32-5.gz ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.1/linux-2.1.63.tgz

problem: use install.packages() with proxy under Windows 2000 wit h Pentium 4 machine
Dear R people, I have been trying to use install.package() to install packages from CRAN. The machine is a Windows 2000 with Pentium 4. The machine operates under a proxy environment. I have followed advices I found on R-help mailing list: change internet2.dll to internet.dll so that R will use the same setting as Internet Explorer uses. After I made the change, R crashes when I attempt to use

Brian's fix works for me. I did up an SRPM (unsigned) with it in: http://linuxatlax.org/trevor/srpms/rxvt-2.6.PRE2-6.src.rpm Brian D. Re: Pentium CPU hang status report.

The sequence is not at all hard to hide from such a per script. Some people mentioned that there are now 4 known opcodes that stop a pentium. Digium h/w serial numbers
Hello, I'm at a loss for a way to find the serial number of a Digium analog card without physically removing it from the server. The only time I have physical access to this particular installation is during business hours and that's obviously a bad time to be taking a server down. It seems that I need the serial number to get a free copy of HPEC... but unless someone can convince

Pentium M in desktop system.
I have a Gigabyte 8S661FXMP motherboard. It had a P4 2.4Ghz processor in it. I have a laptop which cant be fixed and has a Pentium 4 M 2.8Ghz. I put the Pentium M in my desktop and it boots fine and runs fine, yet I have only been running it for about 30 minutes and shut it down. I have now run it for a complete 2 days without lock ups or anything. I have just been letting it idle, although I

Use 8GB RAM on Pentium D?
Hello: I have a Supermicro SuperServer 5015P-TR. It has a Pentium D and is running CentOS x86_64. Can this machine use 8GB RAM? I think it should because it is running a 64 bit OS, but I am concerned because it is fundamentally 32 bit hardware. Anyone have any experience in this area? Icecast2 and Ices2 on Pentium III with Debian 6.0
Hello. On a PC Pentium III I had a audio server working properly with Icecast2 and Ices2, running on Debian 5.0 (Lenny). Now I've upgraded to Debian 6.0 (Squeeze) and after a few seconds of running everything correctly, successive cuts begin to occur in the audio. For Debian 6.0 I have used the same settings for Icecast2 and Ices2 I used in Debian 5.0. Increasing "burst" only managed

win/pentium 4 (was: can this happen?)
I reported an inconsistency in results in the same R program run on different Windows computers and received some suggestions It isn't due to the version of msvcrt.dll (Peter Dalgaard & Brian Ripley) and isn't fixed by Duncan Murdoch's patches to windows R. More experimentation has shown that the set of results I like less (involving internal error reports from optim()) happens

Pentium M + RHEL 5.1 ( XEN 3.0.3 )
I''ve ran into a bunch of threads and postings that seem to be outdated or end up on a different topic. I can''t seemto find one that will actually help. What I need is to simply re-compile Xen (and maybe the kernel) for a Pentium M computer that does NOT support PAE. If I install CentOS 5.1 (without XEN) on Pentium M machine. What do I have to do next to recompile and turn off

Pentium Samba server?
I have got an old pentium back. It is an Intel 66Mhz processor, 16MB RAM and a 2 gigabyte harddrive. Could it be used as a dedicated samba server and what Linux disto would work well? I was thinking of Debian 3 or Slackware. Can samba act as a 2000 PDC?

Hi Does anybody have some experience with running XEN 3.x on Pentium D 805/820/830/840 (Dual core)? I would like to purchase Intel 7230 based motherboard with Pentium D 830 and plenty of memory but I´m not sure if it will works with XEN.
