interactions between OPIE-ftpd and RH5.2
Ran into a weird problem, and this seemed a good forum to toss it out into -- if I've gaffed, please let me know. Just upgraded my RH5.0 box to RH5.2. Went well, worked nearly seamlessly. When running 5.0, though, I'd installed the opie-fied ftpd that comes with the most recent opie package (ftp://ftp.inner.net/pub/opie/opie-2.32.tar.gz) and had it work without a hitch. I'd also

php3 module and security
Hi, When php3 module is compiled in apache, files in any directory will be interpreted by the parser and executed. This is a security breach. There is a way to correct this? Any comments? Tripwire mess..
This may be, or may not be a security issue, however, since alot of people still use tripwire-1.2 or lesser versions(this is what shipped with R.H. Linux 5.2 at least), they might be interested in following detail: Chuck Campbell (campbell@neosoft.com) pointed me out that tripwire dies with coredump on R.H. linux, if it hits a filename containing 128-255 characters. Playing a bit with debugger I

AdMit version 1-01.01
Dear all, The new version of AdMit (version 1.01-01) is now available from CRAN. SUMMARY The package provides functions to perform the fitting of an adaptive mixture of Student-t distributions to a target density through its kernel function. The mixture approximation can then be used as the importance density in importance sampling or as the candidate density in the Metropolis-Hastings

ssh - NO SALE or NO GIVE ?
Thanks to everyone who has replied to my emails so far - to summarise: AIX allows setting of rlogin=false and and a su group, or a list of users that are permitted to "su" to root. ( or other functional ids ) This means with entries in /etc/ftpusers, it is possible to : 1/ Track who used root via sulog and or external logging 2/ Protect root even if the root password is compromised 3/

Bus Error with openssh 3.7.1p1 on 64-bit Sparc/Solaris
I compiled openssh 3.7.1p1 on Solaris 9 with the Forte compiler in 64-bit mode. After authentication, a forked child of sshd dies with a Bus Error in `read_etc_default_login' (session.c). The reason is the use of `sscanf' with control string "%5lo" on a `mode_t' value. On Solaris in 64-bit mode, `mode_t' is an `unsigned int' (32 bits), whereas `long' is 64

interp() function output not continue
Dear List, I'm using interp() to prepare 3d data for plotting with the contour() function. If have x,y and z data. All are arrays. X and Y are sampled in an orderly fashion on a grid (a circular sub-area of a grid - see plot). I'm trying to use interp() to get x and y arrays and a z matrix that can be fed to contour(). This is the command:

Here's what I tried to do. I'm using the yum-priorities plugin. The official CentOS repos are configured with a priority of 1. Besides that, I'm using the EPEL and Nux-dextop third party repos,
