Puppet 3.0: Not authorized to call find on /file_metadata, more issues?
I''ve seen mention of this error in several places, with different causes. So before I posted here, I attempted to resolve this on my own. I corrected the change from puppet:///files to puppet:/// in my manifests *.pp files. No changes were made to the auth.conf file, and I did note in the ChangeLog that: Auth.conf differentiates between names and IPs – There’s a new allow_ip

Puppet master can not find file_metadata for my puppet module
Hello, I am running a puppet master version 2.7.5 on Centos 5.7 and a puppet agent version 2.7.5. I am simply trying to apply changes to files by defining a file resource in my manifest. When I execute my puppet agent to do the installation it complains it can not find the file meta data. Here is my manifest. class neospeech::config { file { "/usr/vwmrcpd/vwmrcpd/vwmrcpd":

Apache mod_cache/mod_disk_cache...?
Is anybody using mod_cache/mod_disk_cache with Puppet? I found a post talking about it here (http://paperairoplane.net/?p=380) and I tried to implement it .. but I found that nothing was being cached. Near as I can tell, Apache refuses to cache any URL that has a query-string attached to it: (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/caching.html) > • If the URL included a query string (e.g. from a

Undefined method 'closed?' for nil:NilClass
Hi all I started researching on puppet and decided I''ll try it out on Vmware Workstation using Ubuntu 10.04. [0.25.5] Default provider
Hi all, To start, using puppet 0.25.5 on Debian Lenny with Ruby 1.8.7.72-3lenny1. I''m giving ruby a shot and am trying to build my own types for several applications and modify available types found on the ''net for our usage. However, I keep running into problems with the default provider it selects. Is there a document somewhere that describes how the default provider is

can checksum be set to none on a file if content is defined?
On a file resource, if the content parameter is set and checksum is set to none, I am getting "Parameter content failed: Munging failed..." This appears to be a bug, but maybe I missed something in the documentation and it isn''t supposed to work. cat test.pp file { "/tmp/foo": checksum => none, content => "this is foo\n", } puppet

trouble with retrieving information from current source
I''m rather new to puppet and I''ve been trying to get a module to work on the client servers. Right now I''m trying to get http://forge.puppetlabs.com/ghoneycutt/pam to run. When I try to run it I get these two errors: err: //pam/File[/etc/pam.d/sshd]: Failed to retrieve current state of resource: Could not retrieve information from source(s)

Allowing puppet to drop privileges for a manifest
Greetings, Our environment consists of about 600 Redhat Enterprise Linux 3, 4, 5, and soon 6 servers. We use cfengine 2 currently, but plan on migrating to puppet. Right now, we have our root-owned cfengine client running every 15 minutes from cron contacting a single cfservd server. Additionally, our employees start their own cfengine and puppet instances on on some servers running under

inventory of managed resources
Hi, are there any good ways of scripting an inventory of managed resources on all nodes? I''ve found the inventory script by R.I.Pienaar ( http://www.devco.net/archives/2010/02/26/what_does_puppet_manage_on_a_node-2.php) which does what I want but only locally on each client. Is there any native way of syncing the client_yaml data centrally or any other way of doing this? I need a

Upgrade to 2.6.1 appears to break puppetmaster
Hello. While trying to get to the bottom of a puppetmaster+unicorn+nginx rig that''s serving empty files, it seemed to be a relatively sensible idea to upgrade the puppetmaster to 2.6.1 This broke in a manner that seems to be the multiple-& bug. Puppet 100% CPU usage
Hi, I''ve been experimenting with Puppet for a few days now, and I really like it. But! I''m having real CPU usage problems. Puppet is still happily eating away 100% CPU for almost an hour at a time, with no apparent things happening. (puppetd -tv --trace --debug, but nothing appearing in the console during this.) I believe the following resource is to blame: file {
