help writing types/provider
I''ve almost finished a pretty simple type/provider to manage RabbitMQ users and virtual hosts. I''m using the ''ensurable'' keyword in my type to save a bit of boilerplate. Type is below (the provider is just a wrapper around the ''rabbitmqctl'' command. Have a feeling there''s a developer guide somewhere I haven''t found (been

Writing a properly-formed custom type (configxml)
Please hold my hand. After studying the wiki, several unofficial pages, various mailing list entries, and the operation of the "iptables" type as found on the net, I have created a custom type, lovingly named ``configxml''''. It updates attributes on the first element matching a supplied XPath in a given XML file. The first use case is configuring Atlassian JIRA to use

username/password combo for custom provider (couchbase)
Hi, I''m trying to program custom type for managing Couchbase buckets. Problem is that every RW operation to Couchbase cluster (creating, deleting, resizing bucket) requires admin privileges (username/password). Do you have any suggestion how should I pass the username/password to provider? If I make it a param, then every resource of type ''couchbucket'' will need to

Custom Type & Invalid Parameter...
Hi All As per my various other Posts, I''m writing a customer type and provider set for NetApp support.. My current problem is that the ''puppet device -v'' run keeps failing with: Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: > Invalid parameter aggregate at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:30 on node > actint-star-nactl01 > Now

yumrepo is missing name attribute in repo files using puppet-0.24.8-4.el5
I''m using puppet-0.24.8-4.el5 on CentOS 5.4. My problem is yumrepo isn''t writing the "name=" field to the repository files which causes yum to complain with the error: Repository ''local-CentOS-5.4-x86_64'' is missing name in configuration, using id I get this behavior on all of my yumrepo definitions. One of them looks like this: yumrepo {

trouble with custom type on 0.24.8
I''m having trouble getting a simple custom type to work. Clients are giving me the following error: "Could not retrieve catalog: Could not find resource type zypper_repo at /etc/puppet/manifests/nodes/mgt.pp:33 on node <host.fqdn>" The custom type is present in the /var/lib/puppet/lib/puppet/type directory on both clients and server (via pluginsync), but it''s

Custom type obligatory field?
Hi. I''ve been trying to develop a module for managing Cobbler from puppet. So, I need a custom type - cobblerdistro, which will fetch ISO from http, unpack it at desired destination and register distro with Cobbler. I have one issue with ensure => absent situation. First of all, here is my type: <code> # cat type/cobblerdistro.rb Puppet::Type.newtype(:cobblerdistro) do @doc

Custom type
Hi. I have a small problem with the custom type I am working on. I define method ''evaluate'' which is called after all data is been collected. Here it is: module Puppet newtype(:test) do newparam(:name) do end newparam(:listen) do defaultto "silent" end def evaluate puts "evaluating..." return super.evaluate end

Do we need a new name for "--test"?
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/2476 This does seem to confuse a fair few new users. can checksum be set to none on a file if content is defined?
On a file resource, if the content parameter is set and checksum is set to none, I am getting "Parameter content failed: Munging failed..." This appears to be a bug, but maybe I missed something in the documentation and it isn''t supposed to work. cat test.pp file { "/tmp/foo": checksum => none, content => "this is foo\n", } puppet

Access @resouce in custom type
Is it possible to access @resource variables inside a type? I would like to make some decisions on parameters based on other parameters that may have already been set. For example, --- newparam(:param1) do Puppet.debug "Found drivesperarray parameter" desc "parameter 1" validate do |value| if resource[:otherparam] then #dosomething else

PATCH: provide replace parameter for sourced files
Following patch for pfile.rb and pfile/source.rb allows the user to set a replace => false parameter on a file sourced by puppet, but not replaced if checksums do not match. This is for cases in which it is desired to distribute initial "bootstrap" files and ensure future existence, yet allow them to be modified on the node. Type development for the rest of us
Since I had my type development epiphany a couple of days ago, I''ve decided to write down my understanding of developing simple types, at http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/PracticalTypes. I''d appreciate comments from people who already know how to develop types as to correctness, and also comments from people who are new to type development about whether it''s a

Bode plots in ggplot2
Hello, I am trying to figure out how to make a bode plot (a.k.a. bode diagram) in ggplot2. An example of such a diagram can be found here: http://meweb.ecn.purdue.edu/~me475/ctm/freq/bode2.GIF The example above shows the gain and phase characteristic of a linear system. In my case, I would like to compare visually several systems on the same diagram. The data in the data frame is arranged

puppetd 0.25.4 with puppetmaster 0.24.8?
Our puppetmaster runs 0.24.8 on Ubuntu 9.10. Our clients are either Ubuntu 9.10 or Ubuntu 8.04. We''ve just brought up our first Ubuntu 10.04 machine. This machine installs puppetd 0.25.4. The Ubuntu 10.04 machine can''t seem to present it''s certificate request properly. In my masterhttp.log, I see [2010-10-20 13:09:06] 174-143-141-55.static.cloud-ips.com - -

CloneFunctionInto produces invalid debug info
Hi! We are currently working on a science project and implemented a FunctionPass that clones a function (more precisely a constructor of a struct/class) and adds a parameter. First, we create a new function with a new function type, which includes the newly added parameter: Function *NF = Function::Create(NewFTy, F.getLinkage(), F.getName() + "Cloned", F.getParent()); and after

Bug when calling system/system2 (and request for Bugzilla account)
I hope it's not too specific in my setup... I've tried with system2 added on the first line, so: Example.R: system2('ls', timeout=5) cat('Start non-interruptable functions\n') sample_a <- sample(1:1e7) sample_b <- sample(1:2e7) matching <- match(sample_a, sample_b) cat('Finished\n') Sys.sleep(10) And in terminal/bash: R --vanilla
