Re: POP secure access?? {result}
Hi All,
First I would like to thank all who gave me pointers on where to look
for the applications. There are also some of you who wanted me to
post my findings. Hence I have decided to post a mini how-to.
I actually ran a sniffer on it, and all messages are encrypted. :)
If there's any prob, just drop me a line.
Rgrds,
Wong.

ipportfw - security
Hi
Are there any known security holes or necessary precautions in using port
forwarding with ipportfw?
I'm planning on forwarding ports from an outer firewall/router (connected
to the Internet) to a host in the DMZ, then on from the DMZ host to the
inner firewall, and finally from the inner firewall to some host on the
inside.
Thanks,
Jens

Oddities with Debian unstable dovecot
Hello,
I'm running an Debian etch box with unstable and ever since the last upgrade to dovecot, I've seen odd things. At times, I would see emails would go missing from the Inbox or other folders, and I couldn't move emails that were moved from the Inbox to another folder back into the Inbox. These have seen gone away since I removed all dovecot.* files and .index* files from my

email security (was "IMAP security across the net")
How about kpop? Anybody hear of this? it is some sort of kerberos
security scheme, I think.
I see it in the eudora esoteric settings, but I am not sure what has
to be running on a LINUX server to do this. My knowledge of kerberos
is quite limited.

summary of responses to "firewalls, a practical question"
A little over a week ago I posted asking about setting up a linux box
between an existing router and a switch in order to provide firewall
service to a subnet of machines. I was curious what experience others
had with this type of setup in terms of machines, configurations, and
the appropriateness of using linux in this manner.
There were basically three issues discussed in replies: hardware

init script as provided http://wiki2.dovecot.org/DovecotInit
Hello list,
I would add:
# dovecot Startup script for the dovecot server
#
# chkconfig: -
# processname: dovecot
# config: /path/to/config
# pidfile: /path/to/pid
So that it supports the chkconfig used by RHEL and clones too.
Also, maybe it should be installed by the Makefile's install target? it
could then also set:
DAEMON=/path/to/dovecot/daemon
instead of:

Starting stunnel on boot with CentOS7
Hmmm, you obviously know a lot more about systemd than I do, I'm going to have to look at what you posted more carefully. Thanks.

Is there a good nntp client for Centos 6 that handles SSL native?
Is there a good nntp client for Centos 6 that handles SSL native?
It was difficult, to say the least, on Centos anyway, to get
Pan to post to Mixmin servers, which require SSL (so we have
to use Stunnel to add SSL capabilities to Pan) on Centos.
Had Pan native SSL support, this wouldn't have been a problem.
Hence the question:

Assert in Fedora dovecot-0.99.10.4-1

I'm seeing this in my dovecot log file:

I get this consistently when I search for the string

requireNamespace etiquette
I'm trying to resolve a problem of Namespaces and probably have misunderstood
something basic.
In my quantreg package the function crq() has as its first argument a
formula that typically contains
something like this: Surv(y, ...) ~ foo, where Surv is a function from the
survival package which
quantreg suggests. When this syntax is encountered in ordinary usage Surv
is resolved, I believe,

mongrel_in_a_tunnel
Hi list:
I started to make a quick GemPlugin command [ssl::start] that sets up
an stunnel before calling the normal [start] command.
so
$ mongrel_rails ssl:start
will do everything that start normally does and configure/setup an
stunnel.
The question...
Obviously this plugin will require stunnel to be installed. What do
you think is the best move:
1) nothing, just require that people
