Linux client for Checkpoint VPN?
Hello all,
Does anybody know if there is a modern Linux client compatible with the
latest versions of Checkpoint VPN ( http://www.checkpoint.com/ )? They used
to have a Linux client back in the day but that seems to have been
discontinued.
Is anybody able to connect to a Checkpoint VPN server from their Linux
machine? If so please share the trick.
Thanks.
Boris.

Optimal VPN
I am looking for the optimal VPN. Well it doens't have to be that elaborate.
Just the best VPN. We currently have some customers using PPTP, some using
openvpn, some using Cisco Any Connect and there are a few others.
So my question is, if you have control of both ends (client and server)
what is the best VPN to use? There are not too many requirements, but a
big one is
The VPN must return

linux pdc two subnets over vpn almost working, but not quite
Ok, I have linux samba pdc wins server
192.168.1.150
behind a cisco router(192.168.1.1). everything else
behind that router works fine, clients look at
192.168.1.150 as WINS server.
vpn over to netgear router(192.168.2.1), with
192.168.2.x subnet. the netgear tells all dhcp
clients to look at 192.168.1.150 as WINS server.
clients on 192.168.1.x network can ping clients on
192.168.2.x network

I'm trying a VPN via ssh between Linux (Suse 10.3, 5.0) and OpenBSD

sudo /sbin/route add -net 192.168.17.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev tun0

Domain Logins across VPN
I've been trying to get this to work for a few days now. I read that
domain requests are sent via broadcast, and to use WINS to get around it.
Well, I've enabled the WINS server on my Samba PDC, and told the BDC's on
each VPN segment that the PDC is a WINS server. WINS resolution works
apparently, I can sit on a VPN'd network segment and ping machines across
the VPN via their

[OT] VPN/DMZ best practices
There is such a wealth of knowledge and personal experience on this list
that I'd like to get your opinions on our current situation.
Currently, we have a simple tri-homed firewall with the internal network
on one interface, the dmz on another, and the dirty internet on the
last. Also, there is a spare interface on the box which is unused. We
use CentOS and manually maintain our rule sets

PF + gif + ipsec + racoon + routing problems results in insecure ipsec vpn
Hi everyone,
I wrote up a post on the FreeBSD forums about the issue I am having. It's rather long so I am providing a link to it here: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=39595
In summary, it seems that when the packets are routed in to the gateway from local network hosts, the src and dst addresses are changed to the public IPs of the tunnel -- at least from the perspective of the

Issue using tinc-vpn on Windows Server 1709 with Docker Overlay Network
Hi Marc,
A number of bugs have been found and fixed in the code that deals with
Windows devices in tinc 1.1:

https://github.com/gsliepen/tinc/pull/174
https://github.com/gsliepen/tinc/pull/181

Unfortunately, these fixes have not made it in a tinc 1.1 release yet,

SMB Across VPN and socket options
I have Samba v3.0.5 running on OS X Server 10.3. On our local office
LAN we have no SMB browsing or speed issues at all.
We recently set-up a VPN between this office and an offsite location
via DSL and two Sonicwall firewall / VPN devices. The offsite users
are having issues with SMB browsing and file transfer speeds and
reliability. Now I know I am on asynchronous connections and I

Issue using tinc-vpn on Windows Server 1709 with Docker Overlay Network
I've not had success with using tinc and docker together. I came up against similar problems. Docker iptables in Linux seem quite complicated as well, messing with the network stack.
I've seen a few tinc docker images that run tinc as a container - I haven't tried this.
Please let us know if you do actually get it working - im very interested to know.
