Puppet & EC2: Attach an EBS volume at boot?
Is it possible, using puppet, to configure an EC2 instance so that when it boots it attaches & mounts an EBS volume? If so, what steps would one take to achieve this? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Re-attaching zpools after machine termination [amazon ebs & ec2]
I''m trying to provide some "disaster-proofing" on Amazon EC2 by using a ZFS-based EBS volume for primary data storage with Amazon S3-backed snapshots. My aim is to ensure that, should the instance terminate, a new instance can spin-up, attach the EBS volume and auto-/re-configure the zpool. I''ve created an OpenSolaris 2009.06 x86_64 image with the zpool structure

Certificate validation failing
I am trying to use puppet to configure Amazon EC2 instances. The server is my own box at home. Both server and clients are Ubuntu 8.04 running puppet 0.24.5. On the client when I run: puppetd --server myserver.com --waitforcert 60 --test I get a cert to sign on the server. I sign it and run the command above again on the client. But then I get 3 errors similar to this: warning: Certificate

Asterisk on the Cloud With a Click - pre-built Asterisk Amazon EC2 instance
Asterisk-users, Our two-part tutorial explaining how to use VoIP and Asterisk in Amazon?s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) has garnered quite a bit of attention. But due to the time required to complete the many steps needed to get up and running, some of you have asked if it is possible to create a much simpler to install ?pre-built? Asterisk EC2 ?instance.? In short, yes it is. And we?ve

CentOS 7 AD member having issues with AD groups
Hi guys, I've joined CentOS 7 successfully to AD as member server, and set couple of shares. But, limiting access by listing groups, or forcing group write isn't working. Samba is clearly having issues with groups. This is example share not working at all (constantly asking for authentication): [tools] path = /data/tools/ comment = Web development

name mangling makes 8.3 unreadable unlike Windows fileserver
Hi, I'm cross-posting here from serverfault.com in case anyone can help. I just found a similar question on askubuntu.com also without an answer. Switched recently from W2K3 to Samba4.0.9/CentOS6.4 for our fileshare for WinXP clients. Have an ancient (1995!) piece of software that uses 8.3 filename format. After the switch, long filenames became useless in the context of the

Dovecot Failover
Hello, Assuming we have two (low traffic) servers (on different data centers) replicated using dsync, what is the best way to automatically direct users to the main server when it is up and to the redundant one when the main server is down? Using DNS? I've seen that DNS-based failover has generally issues (for example:
