puppet-module-apache
Hey all,
I''ve open-sources Digg''s apache module:
http://github.com/plathrop/puppet-module-apache
I know this isn''t much more advanced than what I''ve seen a lot of
people using. Here''s my proposition, though. Let''s get all the
disparate "apache" modules out there merged together into One Awesome
Module. What do you think?

Design questions on creating digg.com-like URLs (are they considered RESTful?)
Hi everyone, I''m working on creating a site that functions similar to
digg.com (please no "no more digg clones" remarks please! :) ). One
thing I really like about digg is there URLs are very nice to read and I
would like to emulate that without having a lot of actions spread out
all over my application.
So in my app I have three main resources:
Users, Tags, and Items

Almost 300 hours of videos about Free and Open Source Software
Hello!
People from International Free Software Forum (the largest brazilian event about FLOSS) have done it two times in a row. They've put online the whole video coverage for this year's event (also online are the videos from last year). It's almost 300 hours in Ogg Theora. I think it's worth a mention in theora.org website. It's a shame there's no subtitles, for most of

Hi I''m trying to configure bacula''s config file. The issue is
everytime the script runs a new key gets generated for bacula.
How can I have the config file update only run once with puppet, yet
replace the default bacula-fd.conf file.

New Rails site: Smatchy.com
A newly released site developed entirely in Rails, known as Smatchy
(www.smatchy.com), presents an interesting
take on recommendations and could become the standard rather than the
exception. The recommendations were more useful than typical sites,
especially the ''Unique Recs.''

Not so complex CompleteConfiguration example of a Complete Configuration?
I am new to Puppet and very eager to apply it to a project.
But I am somewhat stymied by the learning curve. So far I''ve found
many very simple examples of how to modify a file or add a user and a
very complex example http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/CompleteConfiguration
.
I have not been able to find any other examples of a total
configuration tree (ie /etc/puppet/*)

Appending a file to an existing file
Hi,
I have a template file which I would like to append to an existing
file (in this case I wish to add a few lines to /etc/motd). Unless
I''ve missed it, it does not appear that file has an append option. Is
there an easy way copy to the end of a file
Thanks

anything rails based app like pligg or digg out there ?
I am wanting to do something like digg but internally at our company
and am looking for a rails based starting point. There is something
out there called pligg which seems pretty good, but it is PHP based and
I expect to be making quite a few changes/additions, so would really
prefer a project based on rails !
- hope to hear from you

Noob with probs
OK, I''m a total noob to puppet, so please forgive any stupid
mistakes. I''m trying to get a test setup working to evaluate it as a
replacement for radmind. I played with it a bit earlier in the
summer, but got busy with other project, and I''m just now getting back
to it. I had a working setup then, but since I''ve upgraded to 0.24.5
and Facter 1.4.1

CA different than hostname?
I''m trying to setup a puppetmaster, and I''ve got a couple of questions.
The first, is a design question. Since I expect to eventually have
multiple puppetmaster servers, I''d like to name this one to be named
puppet1.example.com. But I''d like my clients to connect via a cname as
puppet.example.com. Is this pretty standard? Is there some more common
way?

Display note when MouseOver Input form
I''m using Rails 3, Formtastic an Jquery. I would like to display a
"floating" note when an input field gets focus.
A good example is when trying to submit a story on digg when you are
not logged in. What is the best way to do this?

AstPligg
Hello list,
AstPligg is a new Digg-like website devoted to * and VoIP news.
At the moment, it's in beta stage and very basic - no fancy custom
templates. It allows posting new stories, comments on stories, RSS feeds
and tags. Still, it can be very useful, as the number of * sites and blogs
grows every day, and keeping track of what is hot in the * world is
increasingly difficult. Yes,
