Multiple environments
So I''m trying to get multiple environments to work with puppet 0.25.1 on ubuntu 8.04 and no matter what I do, puppet just completely ignores any environment setting. There''s really next to no information in terms of configuration on the multiple environments documentation page (http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMultipleEnvironments) other than saying that the

logoutput=>on_failure doesn't work as expected
I''m using puppet 0.25.1. I''ve got a simple resource: exec { "/bin/ls $oracle_base/dba/bin/database_backup.ksh": logoutput => on_failure, } and I don''t want it to log every time it''s successfully run: $ sudo tail -F /var/log/messages | grep puppetd Feb 17 16:36:11 test puppetd[26614]: (//my_module/Exec[/bin/ls /u01/

puppetd can set more than one server address
hi,all I want set up a puppet HA structure. but if the puppetd can set more than one server address ,the work will be simple :D if one puppetmaster have error, the client can auto try the next. I think I can use the heartbeat or dns to do this same thing,but not so good. so I want know the puppetd can direct set in the configure file ? if not,will be add this option? -- Huang

package question
The ICAClient package requires the 32 bit versions of libXp and openmotif. I have this class defined: class icaclient{ case $architecture { i386: { package { "ICAClient": provider => rpm, source => "$kickstart/ICAClient/RHEL5/ ICAClient-11.100-1.i386.rpm", ensure => installed, }

Why we wont use zpool ever again
Hi everyone, Just wanted to tell you a little story. We''ve been enthusiastic puppet users since about a year ago here at the Geographic Institute of the University of Zürich. But we won''t use the zpool type ever again. Its just not worth it. Here''s what happened: . one of our servers lost knowledge about one of its zfs pools . puppet didn''t find the pool

package installations on schedule or manual run
I would like to have packages installed either in the early morning or whenever I manually choose to do so on a particular machine. I am trying to convert my existing configuration from cfengine so in that tool I had something like: packages: Hr03|ManualRun:: <package installation commands> This basically says to install packages if it''s either 3:00-3:59am or if

Certificate Issues.... again
I don''t know what it is with puppet''s certificates, but once again, they are behaving strangely. Client is reporting: debug: Using cached certificate for auth01.fre.livegamer.com /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/ssl/host.rb:166:in `certificate'' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/ssl/host.rb:227:in `wait_for_cert''

pluginsync in 0.25
Seeing an error that I didn''t get in .24 since my recent upgrade today. I have pluginsync set to true, my fileserver conf is pointing to /etc/puppet/plugins and my config file is using the default pluginsource of puppet://puppet/plugins yet the client fails saying it can''t find it. Did the behaviour change in .25 from .24? [puppetd] pluginsync = true pluginsource =

Push changes to clients
I was wondering how to configure the puppet clients to only listen, not to periodically pull configs down from the puppetmaster. I''d rather push the configs out from the puppetmaster with puppetrun... At a guess I need to set runinterval to 0 in /etc/puppet/puppet.conf? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To post

Schedule puppet runs
Hi All, I would like to pick your brains as to the best way to configure the below senario within puppet. I am currently configuring puppet for our environment and have seperated development/back office from production through configuring roles for each server to identify them as such. What i need to be able todo is have the production servers only update outside of office hours, but have the

puppetd and self management
OS: FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE Puppet: 0.22.4 OS: CentOS 5.0 Puppet: 0.23.2 Is it currently not possible for puppetd to upgrade itself (0.22.4 -> 0.23.2)? I tried it, and when puppetd attempted to restart itself (using the init provider), it failed to start back up. Perhaps the init provider needs to close all file handles before executing the rc.d scripts? Additionally, I had puppetd update its

puppetd no-daemonize
So I have been trying to run puppet once in my kickstart %post scripts but every time it detaches and daemonizes even though I have explicitly stated otherwise. puppetmaster built via puppetd
hi, i''m trying to set up my puppetmaster infrastructure with multiple puppetservers behind load balancers in each of our datacenters. i''m using 0.24.6. i''ve read the howto on puppet scalability, and i think i''ve got the ssl config working correct, but i''m noticing that when puppetd is used to build a puppetmaster, some of the files in $vardir/ ssl

puppet reporting an older version installation
Hello all, I have puppet rpm on internal repository for updating it to servers that don''t have it on their normal repos (Centos, Fedora Core 4 or older...) Then I have this to ensure that puppet is at latest version: package { "puppet": ensure => latest, provider => yum, } I added puppet 0.22.3 to my internal repository and all servers updated to that version,

Lock file /var/lib/puppet/state/puppetdlock
I''m just starting a roll out of Puppet and I''m seeing a problem on maybe 25% of client nodes. The symptoms are that the clients stop updating. In the Puppetmaster log, I''m seeing things like: Feb 9 20:10:23 vs4 puppetmasterd[17942]: Compiled catalog for xxxx in 0.05 seconds Feb 9 20:40:41 vs4 puppetmasterd[17942]: Compiled catalog for xxxx in 0.05 seconds Feb 9

"server" config option (and cmd-line option) don''t do anything for puppetd?
Hi guys, Unlike what it says in the documentation and the --help output, I can''t seem to get puppetd to use the --server setting. The only way I can get puppetd to work is to include a ''puppet'' alias to the ip of the machine I''m running puppetmasterd on in my hosts file. The strange thing though, is that the logs of my puppetmaster show that it *is* getting

Puppetting the puppetmaster problems
Hi, installing puppet at my first site was quite easy (not w/o problems, but still). At the second site, I''ve run into something more serious. First things first - I install puppetmaster on existing server, used to keep LDAP db (my puppetmaster DOES NOT use LDAP, it just tries to coexist on the same machine). The thing is, I need to puppet this baby, so I''m running into a
