freebsd.org mirroring
Hello all,
Help me please do mirror of freebsd.org.
I got *.sgml through CVSup, installed textproc/docproj.
But when I typed make:

librarian-puppet vs git superproject?
Can anyone comment on their experiences with librarian-puppet or using git
superproject with per puppet module repositories? We are in the midst of
determining which route is optimal for our environment. It seems like using
git superprojects would mean one less new tool for everyone to learn. What
then would be the advantages of librarian-puppet?
Thanks,

Ports and WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS
Hello,
I wanted to try the new c++ stuff, ie clang-3.2, libc++ and libcxxrt, so I
used poudriere to build a jail setup for that ( WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS=yes in
src.conf, CXXFLAGS+=-stdlib=libc++ and libsupc++.so.1 libcxxrt.so.1 in
libmap.conf ), and started to build my normal set of packages ( see
desktop.list ). Please note that I also have WITH_NEW_XORG=yes and
WITH_KMS=yes, as well as using the

Changing `security@freebsd.org' alias
Hello Folks,
The official email address for this list is
`freebsd-security@freebsd.org'. Due to convention, there is an email
alias for this list: security@freebsd.org, just as there is for
hackers@ & freebsd-hackers@, arch@ & freebsd-arch@, and so on.
The security@freebsd.org alias has been the source of occassional
problems. Several times in the past, postings have been made to

Environment Poisoning and login -p
There's been an ongoing discussion (started by
Colin Percival's recent work on nologin) about
environment-poisoning attacks via "login -p".
I thought I saw a way to address this, but the more I learn,
the uglier this looks. Maybe some of the good folks who read
freebsd-security can puzzle this one out:
Problem: login -p can be used to propagate environment flags
in order to

OpenSSH: multiple vulnerabilities in the new PAM code
This affects only 3.7p1 and 3.7.1p1. The advice to leave
PAM disabled is far from heartening, nor is the semi-lame
blaming the PAM spec for implementation bugs.
I happen to like OPIE for remote access.

Nagios XI + Puppet?
Hi All,
I currently make use of Icinga (nagios fork) + Puppet for fully automated
monitoring. It''s worked great up to this point. I''ve recently been asked to
integrate fine grained notifications support into icinga. I''m not entirely
sure puppet manifests are the right place to manage contacts, contact
groups, and their use within host and service definitions for

Kerberized applications in FreeBSD 5.x
In FreeBSD 5.x only telnet/telnetd works 'out of box' with kerberos.
Why ftp/ftpd, ssh/sshd and cvs do not support kerberos ?
Thanks!

In
http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/mid.cgi?200402260743.IAA18903
it seems RELENG_4 is vulnerable. Is there any work around to a system that
has to have ports open ?

Converting R help files to S-Plus 6 sgml,html
I have help files in several formats. Up until now I have converted nroff files to S-Plus 6 sgml and html files using
Splus doc_to_S ... (creates .sgml file)
Splus HINSTALL ... (creates .sgm and .html files)
I maintain master help files in R .Rd files, and for some of my functions converting from .Rd to .sgm using R CMD Rdconv --type=Ssgm ... produces better .sgm files than beginning with

latest openssl vulnerability
Is it true that (dynamic) binaries are vulnerable if and only if they are
linked with libssl.so.3, not with libcrypt or libcrypto?
Thanks for your help.

Bad VuXML check on PNG port ?
Hello,
The current png-1.2.5_4 port has no more vulnerability.
It has been corrected by ache@FreeBSD.org yesterday.
But when i try to install the updated port to remplace
the vulnerable one this is what i am told :
# make install
===> png-1.2.5_4 has known vulnerabilities:
>> libpng denial-of-service.

rsync-2.5.6 build on Red Hat 8.0 fails
The packaging/lsb/rsync.spec file is broken as shipped: It has a "Sept"
month (rpmbuild here takes only 3-letter month names), and RH gzips the
manpages, so the %files list can't find them. I also added doc/README-SGML
and doc/rsync.sgml to the %doc files. Patch follows.
Thanks for all the good work!
