Fwd: sn package - skew t - code for analytical expressions for first 4 moments
Hello please note that the code at https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2006-August/110892.html to compute indices of skewness and kurtosis for the skew-t distribution is not correct. It has been kindly pointed out that i made some error in this code, which was a bit too quickly copied from the paper. The 'sn' package already contains a facility for computing the cumulants, namely

How to prevent /var/log/samba/log.[sn]mbd creation?
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=311300 I agree with comment #48, with "syslog only = Yes" early log messages should go to stderr. As the current behavior is by design, I ask if there is some way to prevent these files of being created. "log file = /dev/null" did not work (Fedora 18, Samba 4.0.0rc5). Regards, Marcos

sn package - skew t - code for analytical expressions for first 4 moments
hello users of the SN package, i thought i post here some useful help on R code on the 4 moments for the skew t sampling gives seldom good results for skewness and kurtosis, so one really needs the analytical results, it took me some time to get it from the article Azzalini, A. & Capitanio, A. (2003), Distributions generated by perturbation of symmetry with emphasis on a multivariate

Incomplete output with `sn' library package
Dear R users: I have a question regarding the output for two of the functions in the `sn' package, which deals with the mle fitting of skew normal curves to linear regressions. I'm using the examples and the dataset given as an example in the online documentation for this package, for the functions `msn.fit' and `msn.mle'. I'm following the example code in the

Illegal instruction: 4 (core dumped) when running testparm & [sn]mbd with default config
I'm running FreeBSD 8 on a Sheevaplug (ARM5 processor) I compiled and installed Samba 3.3.9 from ports using defaults and defaults for dependencies. I left the smb.conf file untouched, ran testparm and immediately received the coredump. The same happens running smbd and nmbd. Can anyone help me resolve? http://old.nabble.com/file/p26879957/testparm.core.gz testparm.core.gz -- View this

Crash trying to start with ATI BigDesktop
I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 It's quite the eye-candy, and now my ultimate tool in pissing micro$hit user off! I had previously been using ATI's BigDesktop across two monitors. When I tried this with Xgl and Compiz it bombed out during startup. I couldn't spot anything different in my Xorg.94.log file either. Is it possible to get BigDesktop

Black screen returning from console
Another problem I'm experiencing is that when I switch to the console and switch back to the desktop (vt7) it is all black, some colour remaining of the bottom panel exists for a couple of pixels along the bottom of the screen. My console is running frame buffer and gensplash. I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 Is there a known bug between the frame buffer and Xgl?

Xgl/Compiz - Kernel, ATI, Console, and Multihead problems still unresolved
I've been avidly updating mesa, xgl, and compiz, every week (from the portage-xgl overlay) hoping to solve some of these problems: * Using ati-drivers-8.29.6 xgl crashes complaining about lacking dri, so i'm using 8.27.10. * Using 2.6.18 kernels, the ati-drivers-8.27.10 don't compile when building the drm module. * My laptop automatically switchs to vt1 when init services fail

Too difficult to resize window!
The area over the window's border where the cursor changes to a resize cursor for me is just one pixel!! I always spent half a minute just trying to get the cursor over this exact spot so to resize a window. Half the time when i click the mouse its moved and i've missed :-( Is there some way to configure this area to make it easier to resize a window? (I didn't have this problem

IE 6 SP1 crashes on pages with Scriptaculous
Hi everyone, just joined the list (through the link on scriptaculous site). I''m using Scriptaculous 1.1b1 on a particular web site and I''ve been told that it consistently crashes IE 6 SP1 (on WinXP) - everytime my friend tries to access one of the page employing those scripts, IE dies with: "Application Error 0x0eefade occured in the application at 0x77e738b2..."
