Mongrel Memory Usage
All, I''m trying to figure out the best way to estimate the amount of memory usage that will be taken up by Mongrel and I''m hoping that you have some estimates that can help me. I''m currently estimating the following: Memory Required = Number of running puppetmasters * size of manifests * number of clients managed The mongrel model doesn''t seem to *ever*

puppetmaster built via puppetd
hi, i''m trying to set up my puppetmaster infrastructure with multiple puppetservers behind load balancers in each of our datacenters. i''m using 0.24.6. i''ve read the howto on puppet scalability, and i think i''ve got the ssl config working correct, but i''m noticing that when puppetd is used to build a puppetmaster, some of the files in $vardir/ ssl

conceptual problem deploying git repos to a puppetmaster
So before I start I should be upfront and disclose that I''m using external_nodes, so in keeping with that I''m trying as hard as possible to keep all the actually ''specific'' data in the node config files (currently just yaml)and have nothing specific in modules especially. So I have this definition: (credit goes to DavidS for the inspiration) define git::repo (

Puppetmaster be client of another puppetmaster?
Is is possible to have a puppetmaster that is a client of a different puppetmaster? We manage our customers'' server via puppet, but one customer has a puppetmaster server which looks after their internal systems. We''ve tried the following in /etc/puppet/puppet.conf ("customer" and "us" replacing the domain names) on their puppetmaster: [puppetmasterd]

cvs export on puppetmaster box
Hello I am thinking that it is better to do a cvs export of a project once, on the puppetmaster box, rather than do the same cvs export on all puppet clients, yes? If so, how does one do this? Do you run puppetd on the same box as puppetmasterd and set up the cvs export as an exec for only the node with the same hostname as the puppetmaster? Thanks Jesse Jesse Reynolds Virtual

Using Puppet to Configure Other Services on the PuppetMaster Server
Hi, I just wanted to check a few things. I have a build server which is used to run the CI server. It also doubles up as my puppetmaster. Would it be possible to have a puppet client talk to a puppetmaster on the same machine? Cheers, Tom -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. virsh troubling zfs!?
Hi and hello, I have a problem confusing me. I hope someone can help me with it. I followed a "best practise" - I think - using dedicated zfs filesystems for my virtual machines. Commands (for completion): zfs create rpool/vms zfs create rpool/vms/vm1 zfs create -V 10G rpool/vms/vm1/vm1-dsk This command creates the file system /rpool/vms/vm1/vm1-dsk and the

Using multiple values for source, for platform/arch/host configs
Hi, in an attempt to simplify my configuration, and from a suggestion on IRC, I was thinking of using multiple values for file { source => [] }. Was just currious if anyone had any comments on this. Basically, I setup my file-server to use: <snip> [private] path /var/lib/puppet/files/private/%H allow * [shared] path /var/lib/puppet/files/shared allow *

[PATCH net] vhost: net: switch to use data copy if pending DMAs exceed the limit
We used to stop the handling of tx when the number of pending DMAs exceeds VHOST_MAX_PEND. This is used to reduce the memory occupation of both host and guest. But it was too aggressive in some cases, since any delay or blocking of a single packet may delay or block the guest transmission. Consider the following setup: +-----+ +-----+ | VM1 | | VM2 | +--+--+
