puppet, mongel, nginx and new nodes
Hey All, This is probably a gotcha of some kind. That is to say I''ve missed a configuration somewhere. I''ve recently moved over to using mongrel as the puppet server type and having nginx proxy to one of four mongrel instances. What I''m seeing though is that when I try to run a new node (one that has been created post moving to mongrel/nginx) is that it returns with the

Puppet user running Apache-Passenger ?
Is there anything in the Puppet/Passenger setup process that edits httpd.conf and sets the User/Group running apache to "puppet" ? A master I set up several months ago is configured that way. I do not recall doing it. But then the high voltage electroshock therapy does have its side effects :) “Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the

Puppet and Passenger.. configprint
Hello everyone... I have configured the puppetmaster to use Apache/Passenger. However, executing a configprint (puppet --configprint all) from either the puppetmaster or an agent shows servertype = Webbrick Has anyone else seen this? What do I need to do to correct this? Puppet Dashboard changed reports view error
Hello Puppet Users ! We encounter a problem with the dashboard on this URI : /reports/changed The /reports works fine with ~130000 reports (up to 3 months and auto-cleaning with rake reports:prune job) I make a reports:prune:orphaned, juste in case, but without any success. The most recent change on the server was the puppetmaster upgrade from 3.0.2 to 3.1.0. Here is the dashboard error log

Toward a simple Nginx configuration for Puppet Mongrel
Hi, I''ve created two Nginx patches (see at the end of this message) to allow a simpler Nginx configuration for your Mongrel puppetmasters. The two main issues with Nginx in front of puppet were: * no CRL support * no optional certificate verification (and thus we''re forced to have two separate configs on two different ports, and to use --ca_port). Now, it is as simple as

puppet 2.7.11 + ruby 1.9.3 + passenger
So does anyone have a working setup with puppet 2.7.11 + ruby 1.9.3 + passenger? I am currently using rack-1.0.1 (rack-1.4.1 had same behavior) and passenger 3.0.11, and I get some authentication problems (shown below). If I use an auth.conf that is wide open (auth any, allow *), the agent can successfully retrieve his catalog and plugins and apply them. Using webrick works fine as well. The

puppet 3 and standalone passenger?
I''ve been looking around for instructions on installing puppetmaster with a standalone passenger, without apache. I''m a personal believer in, "the fewer layers, the better" :) Unfortunately, I cant find any instructions for this configuration. Everything seems to be written for "puppet AND httpd and passenger". Could anyone point me to instructions sans

Installing phusion passenger with puppet

How to determine puppet environment when using passenger
Hello, I am trying to figure out what the best way to use puppet when I am using passenger. I noticed that if I log in as my normal user on Ubuntu 12.04, and run "puppet config print" it gives me the incorrect configuration than what I think I am running when I am using apache/passenger/puppet For example, it shows my confdir as being in my users homedir/.puppet instead of

Using puppet with Apache mod_disk_cache and passenger over SSL
I have tried to setup Apache with passenger to host the puppetmaster but I also want to cache. I have no problems running puppet within Passenger with httpd. I also enabled mod_disk_cache within Apache. However, I still see my puppet client htting the puppetmaster and the puppetmaster compiles the manifest every time. In /var/cache/mod_cache, I can see that the data was properly cached.

Puppet / Passenger SSL Problems with DRBD
I am working on setting up a Puppet configuration where some of the data is stored on a DRBD volume. The modules and vardir are stored on the drbd volume. The puppet.conf files point to the drbd volume for vardir. I created a cert for a VIP puppet-master using the puppetca -- create command I had everything working on the primary drbd node, but when I fail over, everything starts up fine, but I
