Facter ignores interfaces with non eth names
Does facter support NICs that are not named ethX? I happen to use custom names on my systems. Just a quick look at the code I don''t see why it wouldn''t but the behavior I am seeing is very different. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. exec subscribe refresh not working
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I''m trying to figure out why exec{} which subscribes to a file, doesn''t get triggered when the file is touched by puppet. I''ve got the following: exec { "/usr/sbin/postmap /etc/postfix/checks/access": refreshonly => true, subscribe => File["/etc/postfix/checks/access"];

Oops, forgot to release 0.23.3
Hi all, It was brought to my attention that the front page lists 0.23.3 as the stable release, but that no such release exists. I could have sworn I released this a few weeks ago, but now I can find no evidence of that. I''m going to publish it from the latest commit in the 0.23.x branch as soon as possible (probably in about 12 hours), so if anyone wants to get that last-minute

executing some code with subscribe/notify/unless
Hi all, I have some code to execute that depends on two things: 1.-) some file is modified 2.-) its log shows some error. So I''d like to define both conditions, and I''ve done it like: file { "file1": recurse => true, owner => "root", group => "root", mode =>

I have the following test case: file { sendmail-conf: path => "/etc/mail/${fqdn}.mc", owner => "root", group => "wheel", mode => 0644, links => follow, source => "puppet:///sendmail/${hostname}.mc" } $mail_dir = "/etc/mail" $cf_dir = "/usr/share/sendmail/cf/" exec { build-conf: command => "/usr/bin/m4

Tests just deleted my production Database!!! PLEASE
When you run your functional tests, rake wipes the "test" database clean and recreates it based on what is in the "development" database. Since it appears you are using the same database for both, that would explain why you lost your data. In addition, if you omit the data needed to access the development database you will get an error like you described, because

subscribe exec to a dir fails
Hi, I am trying to convince aptitude update to run only when a file changes in /etc/apt/sources.list.d: exec { <snip> "aptitude-update": command => "/usr/bin/aptitude update", subscribe => "$basedir/sources.list.d", refreshonly => true; } File { owner => ''root'', group =>

some questions regarding inhert, unless/onlyif and notify on recursive objects
hello, i''m just playing around with the really great puppet to learn the syntax and see what it can do. i''m using puppet 0.22.1 on debian etch. i created a aide class to distribute a modified aide.conf.d directory and if not already done initialize the database (yes this should probably be better organized and databas initialization should be performed as the last step):

puppet file recursion requires two passes to converge
Hi, So for awhile I have been seeing this issue but it hasn''t been painful. However, recently I have been deploying a new module that has made it much more annoying. file { cdh3_config: recurse => true, ignore => ".svn", checksum => md5, notify => Exec[hadoop_alternatives], require

Puppet v2.7.209 setting permissions recursively
How can I get Puppet to recursively set permissions of a directory, so that the directory and all subdirectories have move 0755 but the files in the directory have mode 0644? When I use the recurse => true option, it sets the files in the directory to executable as well. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Ext 2/3 overwriting remnant data & use of data blocks - security
Greetings all- I am conducting security testing on a device that uses Linux 2.4 with ext3. I am testing secure overwrite of remnant data in temporary files, but have run into a real good stumpper in the way Ext allocates data blocks. I've got 10 yrs of *NIX behind me, several with Linux, and this has really got me perplexed as I can't find any documentation explaining the subject

Unable to dial certain calls
To begin with, I am new to both asterisk and VOIP and although I've gotten pretty far with my Asterisk setup and have two different sip accounts working fine for outgoing calls I am having trouble with one issue. 1 file of 16000 always being updated
Hi all! I'm trying rsync synchronizing some directories with about 16.000 files. After the first synchronization, the others are transfering just the changed files, as it is expected to be, except for 1 single file, that is not changed (size or time) and is being transfered in all synchronization. The file is called JSPWiki.war, and is a java war file. I checked the size and times on both

Memory leak in ocfs2/dlm?
Hi! Seems we're facing some memory leak here. This is vanilla 2.6.19-rc6 on a x86_64 box, 4GB RAM. A simple `ls -Rn' on a filesystem with lots of files makes the box leak so much RAM that the OOM killer starts to kick in. With slab alloc debugging turned on, we see this: # mount; ls -Rn; wait some seconds; Ctrl-C [root@lnxp-1038:/backend1]$ cat /proc/slab_allocators | egrep
