Cookie-analyzer (antispyware) tool for FreeBSD?
Is anybody aware of existing software that searches the cookiejars of popular browsers available for FreeBSD for known tracking cookies as popular antispyware tools for Windows do? Problems with 1.3.11 and Ices 0.22
We just built a new server to run Icecast 1.3.11 and Ices 0.22. It's a Dual PIII running RH7.1. We put it online last night and Icecast ran fine for 20 hours. Then it started throwing some errors.. That's when Ices died. Ices reported a libshout error. Part of the Icecast log is included. What can I do about this? Hunter [26/Aug/2001:16:05:01] [32:Connection Handler] Accepted

Read-only (forensic) mounts of ZFS
Hi Sorry for the cross-posting, I''d sent this to zfs-code originally. Wrong forum. I''m looking into forensic aspects of ZFS, in particular ways to use ZFS tools to investigate ZFS file systems without writing to the pools. I''m working on a test suite of file system images within VTOC partitions. At the moment, these only have 1 file system per pool per VTOC

Tracking 4-stable rather than 4.8-stable
Hi, I would like to follow 4-stable on my FreeBSD box, and i can't fetch binaries from /stand/sysinstall. Can anyone help me? Here is how i did: 1) I installed 4.8-RELEASE from CD, 2) I used cvsup to upgrade. For this i used the stable-supfile as shown in the Handbook. => My OS version as shown by 'uname -a' and '/stand/sysinstall' is "4.8-STABLE". It

ZFS and UFS performance
We are running Solaris 10 11/06 on a Sun V240 with 2 CPUS and 8 GB of memory. This V240 is attached to a 3510 FC that has 12 x 300 GB disks. The 3510 is configured as HW RAID 5 with 10 disks and 2 spares and it''s exported to the V240 as a single LUN. We create iso images of our product in the following way (high-level): # mkfile 3g /isoimages/myiso # lofiadm -a /isoimages/myiso

Recovery of RAIDZ with broken label(s)
Hi all, I have a 5 drive RAIDZ volume with data that I''d like to recover. The long story runs roughly: 1) The volume was running fine under FreeBSD on motherboard SATA controllers. 2) Two drives were moved to a HP P411 SAS/SATA controller 3) I *think* the HP controllers wrote some volume information to the end of each disk (hence no more ZFS labels 2,3) 4) In its "auto

buffering
hi, I doing some tests streaming from a connection in South Africa that seems to have difficulty handling even a 32kbps stream. Unfortunately there is no scope to upgrade the connection. The stream will go live to radio in London and hence a client has to have as consistent a connection as possible. I was wondering if there are any tricks to reducing buffering on the client in this kind of

unexpected softupdate inconsistency
Hi there, System is FreeBSD 4.9 Stable Had a problem during a portupgrade that when portupgrade did some cleaning a directory could not be deleted because it were not empty. However, it was empty. rm -rf didn't help either. Because I didn't know what to do I decided to boot. At system startup fsck was started which produced the message: unexpected softupdate inconsistency and also that

ZFS panic while mounting lofi device?
I believe ZFS is causing a panic whenever I attempt to mount an iso image (SXCR build 39) that happens to reside on a ZFS file system. The problem is 100% reproducible. I''m quite new to OpenSolaris, so I may be incorrect in saying it''s ZFS'' fault. Also, let me know if you need any additional information or debug output to help diagnose things. 5-STABLE softupdates issue?
Greetings, out of fun and to investigate claims about alleged bgfsck resource hogging (which I could not reproduce) posted to news:de.comp.os.unix.bsd, I pressed the reset button on a live FreeBSD 5-STABLE system. Upon reboot, fsck -p complained about an unexpected softupdates inconsistency on the / file system and put me into single user mode, the manual fsck / then asked me to agree to
