Directory of symlinsk
How would I make a file resource that produces a directory of symlinks
pointing to all the files in another directory? I know how to do it
with "cp -s" or "ln -s" commands but doing it with file resource would
be better.

The Ubuntu 10.04 machine can''t seem to present it''s certificate request
properly.

I have plenty of disk and plenty of inodes.
The daemon is not running. I run it manually using /usr/sbin/puppetd

Hello
We have a OpenLDAP-2.2.23 + Samba 3.0.14a and the system is logging a lot (one to each minute, more or less) of errors like this:
server smbd[10799]: [ID 510469 daemon.error] nss_ldap: could not get LDAP result - Can't contact LDAP server
Well, I would like to ask to samba specialists if is possible that the problem is this slapd.conf option:
idletimeout 30
I?m using it because

A room full of Cisco 7960s behind NAT
I need to set up an office full of Cisco 7960 phones behind NAT with the
server out in Colo.
The first test phone registers fine, but the second one does not register.
The first phone's registration looks like so:

When the second phone tries to register, it gets back a 404 not found. Not

up2date
I have found a few issues with puppet and the up2date provider (version
0.22.4) that I''d like to run by those who use up2date (to see if others
are experiencing the same issues).
1. Puppet doesn''t seem to find the latest updates of packages that are
already installed. In looking at
"/usr/lib/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/provider/package/up2date.rb", I found

Specify and respecify
Hello Puppet users,
I had talked with Luke about this scenario and was wondering how others
would/are handling something like this.
Imagine a scenario where all servers will have a specific postfix
configuration except for a server or two or three. So, you want to define
a file "/etc/postfix/main.cf" and specify the source from your dist tree.
But for those exceptional servers,

Calculating required bandwidth
I was posed this question:
A T1 set up for voice carries 24 conversations on a circuit that is 1.544
megabits/second. Right?
Well, if you set that T1 up to carry data and run a link between two IP
networks over it, how many SIP conversations could it be expected to carry?
How about IAX?
How would one extend this calculation to varying bandwidth circuits and
various VOIP protocols (MGCP,

Mysterious new problem: nss_ldap: could not soft reconnect to LDAP server
Suddenly as of this morning, none of my users can authenticate to samba
because nss_ldap is producing cryptic errors. Nothing has changed on
either the LDAP server or the Samba server. Looks like this in
/var/log/messages:

Yet, the LDAP server IS available, and happily chirping away

Johnny,
I was wondering if that RPM includes the security fixes detailed in

"smbd: nss_ldap: could not search LDAP server - Can't contact LDAP server" and Samba shares are dropped
List,
I am encountering some really strange behaviour with Samba 3.0.20 and
OpenLDAP 2.2.28. Everything in terms of PAM and NSS has been working
correctly for a long time and have not been changed in months.
This week it has started playing up, with NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE type
errors. The local ldap server is replicated from a master. In syslog,

Wtih version 0.22.1 using SQLite storage, only resource -> host foreign keys are present
Hi,
I am developing an end user WWW-based front end for Rails for my
system integrator and developer colleagues to use to easily view and
search our Puppet configs via a Rails app.
I set up the SQLite storage option on the server and the puppet tables
are being populated in /var/puppet/state/, but foreign keys for
everything except host_id in resources are not being set.
Is this expected

Sipura 3000 FXO with Asterisk
Anybody using a Sipura 3000 for FXO with Asterisk?
Mine is working except for one small nit...
When a call comes in from the PSTN, the Sipura answers it and then passes
it on to Asterisk, which plays extension ring tone.
I'd prefer for the POTS line to stay on-hook while the extension rings, and
to only be answered by the Sipura when the extension answers.
Has anybody made this work?
