purging unmanaged cron
Should this work?
# --- remove any cronjobs that are not managed by puppet.
resources { "cron": purge => true }
I get the following error.

Cron jobs not removed when deleted from Manifest
I''m not sure if this has been posted previously, but I couldn''t find any information on it.
I added a cron job via the cron type and it installed properly. Next, I removed the cron type from the manifest.
The result was that, while the entry was no longer in the yaml file, the cron entry was not removed!
Is this a bug, or the way that it is supposed to function?
Thank you,

cron and name with ''.''
I dont know if i am missleaded but it seems to me that the cron type
does not accept names with a ''.'' in it ? I tried to add a cron with a
name cron1-$domainename and it does not accept it. If i remove the ''.''
in the domain it work. I am using .22.3 anyone seeing the same behavior
? If yes i will fill it as a bug.

Tasks in /etc/cron.daily on CentOS 7?
Hi,
I just configured SquidAnalyzer, a nifty little network statistics tool
that I'm using mainly in school networks to monitor network usage.
I want to run the '/usr/bin/squid-analyzer' script once a day. I took a
peek in /etc/cron.daily, and the package already installed an
/etc/cron.daily/0squidanalyzer script.
I wanted to know at what time CentOS ran the cron.daily scripts,

AD-DC configuration backup
Hi,
Samba-AD-DC is working great for us here. All integration working as
expected.
However one small issue. We attempted to use "samba_backup" script to
backup the configuration data. It works fine. However, when we set it as
a cronjob, the cron triggers at the given time during the day, but the
samba_backup script fails to execute. No logs either.
All other cronjobs, like rsync

run bash <filename> from cron
This might be a bit OT, but I've never had to do this before and what
I've googled doesn't seem to be working.
I have an ansible playbook that I'm working on that I want to run as a
cronjob.? One task I'm having trouble with is where I have a text file
with lines like:
rd.pl "blah blah"
rd.pl "blah blah blah"
This text file has to be 'executed'

Ideas about learning
I''m looking for some ideas about how to learn how to use puppet. One
of my main concerns is dorking up the machine I''m testing it on.
For this I''m using a VM. So that concern is mainly taken care of.
If some of you experienced puppet users where going to do it all over,
what parts would you try to learn first?
I have successfully been able to get a cronjob added

CRON JOBS
Buenas,

noisy reports from cron {}
I''ve been using puppet for a while but I just recently decided to
start using it to manage crontabs.
It works great but puppet is reporting (and being very noisy about it)
every time it does a run even when there is nothing in the actual
crontab to change.
I think this is happening because I''m setting defaults for the Cron
type, which I should be able to do. Right?

MVC and cron jobs
I have a cronjob that runs "ruby script/runner ''Channel.preload''".
Channel is a parent model, Item is the child model (i.e., Channel
has_many :items and Item belongs_to :channel). The coupling is
minimized, the coherence looks good, but I''m not sure the model is the
right place to put this code. Is there a better place to put this
code, e.g., a component (I

Question: Do all puppetd run at the same time?
(I know more questions... :-))
I know the default for puppetd is to check puppetmasterd every half
hour, but my question does each puppetd check at the same time? Or
does it depend when puppetd is started or like a cronjob does it run
at the 1/2 hour and hour mark? Is there some randomness to the times
they run?
My point is if they all run at the same time then if you have a large
amount of

Help with installing Apache Solr with Dovecot 2.2
Dear Marc,
Thanks for your feedback!
1. I store it in MySQL.
2. I will add a cronjob to run Solr if I can figure out why its not working
on test runs. Maybe I might try to setup a cronjob for solr to avoid having
to manually start it everytime.
3. Will turn on the mail_debug in dovecot.conf . Where will it log the
problems?
Thanks
Kevin

cron job not running
hello list,
I am attempting to backup a centos 5.4 (x86_64) server running mysql
with a cron job. Here's how the cron job looks:
[root at cloud:/home/bluethundr/backupdb] #crontab -l
* 3 * * * /usr/bin/mysqldump jfwiki >
/home/bluethundr/backupdb/wiki-$(date +%Y%m%d).sql
However if I run the command from the command line it seems to work fine.
If I grep syslog for cron this is what

Cron not sending e-mails anymore
Hi,
I have a cronjob that executes a script that has some echo statements
in it and the commands in it also generate output (it copies files,
reloads services, etc...).
Recently, cron stopped sending its output by e-mail. I restarted cron,
without success. Any ideas where I shoud start to debug this?

Recent (unfun) experience with cron resource on Solaris 10 with puppet 0.25.5
I was attempting to set up some cron jobs via puppet.
I was trying to get cron to mail the output of the cron jobs to a specific user, so I was
attempting to set MAILTO=user@example.com, via the environment => specifier.
Puppet did as it was told.
Unfortunately, I guess that Solaris 10 does not support setting of environment variables in crontab files (directly), so
when puppet attempted to

Cron Job?
Hi All,
How does one create a cron job that runs commands like:
/usr/local/awstats/wwwroot/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=xxx.com -update
/usr/local/awstats/wwwroot/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=yyy.com -update
Say every 15 mins?
