Tiering Volumns
Hello everyone. I have a new GlusterFS setup with 3 servers and 2 volumes. The "HotTier" volume uses Nvme and the "ColdTier" volume uses HDD's. How do I specify the tiers for each volume? I will be adding 2 more HDDs to each server. I would then like to change from a Replicate to Distributed-Replicated. Not sure if that makes a difference in the tiering setup. [root at

Testing sharding on tiered volume
Hi, I'm looking to use sharding on tiered volume. This is very attractive feature that could benefit tiered volume to let it handle larger files without hitting the "out of (hot)space problem". I decided to set test configuration on GlusterFS 3.12.3 when tiered volume has 2TB cold and 1GB hot segments. Shard size is set to be 16MB. For testing 100GB files are used. It seems writes

Implicit storage tiering w/ ZFS
I''m curious if there has been any discussion of or work done toward implementing storage classing within zpools (this would be similar to the storage foundation QoSS feature). I''ve searched the forum and inspected the documentation looking for a means to do this, and haven''t found anything, so pardon the post if this is redundant/superfluous. I would imagine this would

Handling a tiered subscription service
Hi all, I''m working on a project that involves a tiered pricing structure for various features, all of which are accessed via a secure admin area. The features available in each tier, the tier structure and pricing will change over time, so new tier schemes will come into play, requiring feature/pricing schemes to be timestamped. I guess what I''m aiming for is

Ignore failed connection messages during copying files with tiering
Hi, All, We create a GlusterFS cluster with tiers. The hot tier is distributed-replicated SSDs. The cold tier is a n*(6+2) disperse volume. When copy millions of files to the cluster, we find these logs: W [socket.c:3292:socket_connect] 0-tierd: Ignore failed connection attempt on /var/run/gluster/39668fb028de4b1bb6f4880e7450c064.socket, (No such file or directory) W

defining client/server configs
Still very new to puppet, so go easy :-) Bit of a braindump I''m afraid, but I''d really appreciate any "Yep", "interesting", "No!!!" comments. I''ll start with an example - adding NTP support. This primarily consists of two configs: a) NTP clients - this is quite easy, it''s a templated file requiring the names of the NTP

RFC: Contributing Bazel BUILD files in the "peripheral" support tier
I previously <https://groups.google.com/g/llvm-dev/c/u07o3QREVUg/> proposed contributing Bazel build files to the LLVM monorepo, supported *only* by interested community members and not to interfere with or affect the existing CMake configuration. As part of that conversation, it became clear that the LLVM policies for more "peripheral" components were not clearly documented. We

ntpserver in domainU vm
Hello all, I try to set a ntp server in domainU, but other vms cannot synchronizes with the ntpserver VM. When I choose to set ntp server in domain0, synchronization can be done. Why is that? I install xcp-xapi 1.5 on ubuntu server 12.04 64-bit. Many thanks! clayton claytonly _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org

Questions about the upcoming Object Storage Plugin for 2.2
Hi Timo, I'm curious and have questions about the new Object Storage Plugin (OSP), and how it can be leveraged by an SMB like us. First, am I reading this right where it could be used as a kind of 'live/realtime backup' solution, where everything is stored *both* locally and in the cloud, with two-way syncing, ie, so local users could access the local server for faster access,

w32time and Samba PDC Domains
I see that the w32time service as it is configured when a Win2K Pro client joins a Samba PDC Domain is not configured in such a way that the service is able to successfully sync time with Samba. time server directive and synchronizing Win XP clients
Hi all! I have configured a Samba PDC (3.0.7) on a Fedora Core 2 machine with LDAP authentication (conform http://samba.idealx.org/smbldap-howto.en.html). I have about 180 Windows XP Pro clients using this PDC to log onto the domain, which works great! However I seem to have trouble synchronizing the time on the clients to the time on the server. The users (in group Domain Users) do not have

How to truly separate Logic from view with Rails?
It is something that I have been wondering. When working with other application servers there is often/most of the time a 3 tiers/layers architecture: - Presentation layer/Web services - Application layer - Database layer They often resides on separate machines, 3 different sets. So the application code is logically AND physically separated from the presentation layer. Is this possible with
