Solaris NSS/winbind problem - large groups
Hello All,
It seems that 'getent group groupname' hangs on large groups for Solaris 8/9
running winbind. Currently running Samba 3.0.20 but also tried 3.0.10.
'ls -l' also hangs if listing a file created by a user who's primary group
is too large(such as Domain Users). Users can still access the files but
netbackups hang.
The problem I am experiencing is found in the

nearly-tickless-tinc
Hi,
tinc has a fixed timeout of 1 second for select() in the main
loop. I think this could be improved. Do you think the following
patch goes into the right direction ?
I don't know whether pselect() is standard enough (works under
"current" linux, however I don't know about the other arches). Maybe
a config option is necessary.
It's probably possible

Using a single class multiple times
Hi-
Recently starting using puppet while migrating an existing messy group
of systems to some nice new hardware. Things are going incredibly well,
and puppet''s functioning great. Have a bit of a headache. I''d like to
keep myself from duplicating lots of included classes. Lets say I have
this (snippet of a) class:
class dbserver {

Problem mounting with credentials file
I am running Gentoo. I am trying to get my /etc/fstab to automatically
mount a remote Samba share at boot time. I have the following in my
/etc/fstab file:
//192.168.0.2/share /mnt/share cifs
auto,credentials=/home/user/.smbpasswd,uid=1000,umask=002,user 0 0
This works fine if I specify the username and password in the /etc/fstab
file. However, if I try to use the credentials file

macosx (lots of little changes)
happy new year. a day off is a day to pick up a new project, so I
wrestled my way through making ogg vorbis work on macosx.
first, libao (not entirely a proper patch, but 2 source file diffs and a
diff of a configure'd Makefile to one that works.):

libogg and libvorbis compiled without incident. vorbis-tools were more

You're right.
Isn't this a simple fix - a call to sigprocmask ?

31K failed stat64's when viewing a simple (no db) rhtml page?
I''m trying to help the sys admins of my server figure out what is up
with our Rails installation (debian sarge - completely up to date).
Hitting a simple page yields 31,000 failed stat64''s and takes anywhere
from 8 - 44 seconds. They #! for ruby is correct everywhere, but it''s
like it can''t find Rails. These are box stock standard installs.

[PATCH] ssh-agent: exit 0 from SIGTERM under systemd socket-activation
When the ssh-agent service is configured to be launched under systemd
socket-activation, the user can inspect the status of the agent with
something like:
systemctl --user status ssh-agent.service
If the user does:
systemctl --user stop ssh-agent.service
it causes the `systemd --user` supervisor to send a SIGTERM to the
agent, which terminates while leaving the systemd-managed socket

OpenSSH solaris: bad return code after exec of remote command
Hi OpenSSH developers,
I am using openSSH (now 2.9.9p2, but prob occurs in 2.9p2 also) to execute
commands on a remote machine which outputs data to stdout then pipes it to
another invocation of ssh which connects back to the first machine in the same
way, where it starts a program to read and store the output from the command on
the second machine. I am using the "command" option in

OpenSSH 3.9p1 X11 forwarding
Hi,
We upgraded from 3.7.1p2 to 3.9p1. The behaviour of the X11 forwarding
changed significantly, it is much slower. See below the truss output
(server side which runs 3.7.1p2) an check for the timestamp (6 seconds
delay). Do you have any idea what may causes this behaviour? Platform is
Solaris 5.9 Generic_117171-05.
Thanks in advance,

puppet ldap integration question
I want to deploy puppet with openldap for specific node configuration,
but only for specific nodes, every other node (not in LDAP) should
follow the ''default'' node definition.
Is it possible to mix and match like this?
As I try it I am getting err: Could not retrieve catalog: Could not find
node ''myhostname'' instead.

Compilation of 1.1.6 fails on HP-UX 11.31
Hi,
$ uname -srv

$ cc --version
cc: HP C/aC++ B3910B A.06.20 [May 13 2008]
Compilation fails, output of configure and make are given below. The
cause of this is almost certainly that this version of HP-UX does define
the QCMD macro in sys/quota.h (checked in the ifdef line 26
dovecot-1.1.6/src/plugins/quota/quota-fs.h) as well as the dqblk struct,
but the latter with different

probably running puppet on red hat for the first time
Here at the University of Sydney I''m trying to give Puppet a go. I
haven''t made it past first base yet unfortunately.
We run RHEL 4 here, for the most part, and the install guide at
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/InstallationGuide says that
you should use the vendor''s Ruby, but Red Hat''s current version of
Ruby is 1.8.1-07 - is this new
