Boxplot Labels OK
Dear all, I have just sent an enquiry but probably I hadn’t expressed myself properly. Could anyone help me with the following? When I run the code on my data I get a boxplot with outliers identified by numbers 200 & 201. However, what I would like is to label these outliers with their corresponding “DATA$num” values of the data frame. In this example, the outliers should be labelled as:

mild and extreme outliers in boxplot
dear all, could somebody tell me how I can plot mild outliers as a circle(?) and extreme outliers as an asterisk(*) in a box-whisker plot? How to create interrupted boxplot
Hello, I have created two boxplots with following R code. There is one outlier in B group. The outlier is 33. But the all other data are between 0 to 4. How can I skip y-axis around 5 to 25, and expand 0-4 for this case. Also I want keep the outlier in my boxplot. I want my boxplot look like the second one, keep the outlier, and make an interrupt of y-axis from 5 to 25. Thanks, Jianghong

boxplot - code for labeling outliers - any suggestions for improvements?
Hello all, I wrote a small function to add labels for outliers in a boxplot. This function will only work on a simple boxplot/formula command (e.g: something like boxplot(y~x)). Code + example follows in this e-mail. I'd be happy for any suggestions on how to improve this code, for example: - Handle boxplot.matrix (which shouldn't be too hard to do) - Handle cases of complex

labels outliers in boxplot
Dear R-users, Following is part of my data, where slide has 36 levels and block 48 levels. I have done boxplot for each slide on the same graph. There are outliers for each slide and I tried to use indentify functtion to identify outliers in such a way that when I click on an outlier or point, the points will be labelled by either their block or ID or by both but without success. How can I make

Boxplot not doing what I think it should
My box plot below is drawing its upper whisker all the way to the last point, instead of showing the point as an outlier. Am I misunderstanding, or is it a bug? Help(boxplot) states for the parameter ?range? that ?this determines how far the plot whiskers extend out from the box. If range is positive, the whiskers extend to the most extreme data point which is no more than range times the

Boxplot Help Needed
Hi R-Experts, How can I show all the relevant measures like mean, median, min. value, max. value, outlier in a single boxplot diagram? Suppose I have a data set c(2,4,5,7,12,14,15,13,8,5,23,98,11) Sumanta Basak. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

outlier and whisker in boxplot
Hi, Dear R-users: Sorry for bothering your guys again. I think I should rewrite my question. I know how to extend whisker by using range. The question is that I will set the range=1.5, and at the same time, I only want to show the extreme outlier, like 0.01% and 99.99% percentile, so what should I do? Thank you very much! basic boxplot questions
dear R experts: I am playing with boxplots for the first time. most of it is intuitive, although there was less info on the web than I had hoped. alas, for some odd reason, my R boxplots have some fat black dots, not just the hollow outlier plots. Is there a description of when R draws hollow vs. fat dots somewhere? [and what is the parameter to change just the size of these dots?] Also, let

about the whisker in boxplot
Hi, Dear R-users, I have a problem when I drawing a boxplot. I want to extend the whisker to the 5% and the 95% quantiles and only show the most extreme outlier, like 0.01% and 99.99% percentiles. What should I do? I saw something on boxplot.stat, but even I define the parameter in boxplot.stat, what I should do next? how to connect it to boxplot? Thank you very much! Catherine -- View

boxplot - label outliers
Hi All- I have 24 boxplots on one graph. I do not have the whiskers extending to the outliers, but I would like to label the maximum value of each outlier above the whiskers. I have the stats but am having trouble figuring out how to label the whiskers. Any suggestions would be great! sherri

boxplot.formula with missing values (PR#6846)
If an array has missing values in different rows, plotting using the formul= a=20 interface can produce errors. Example: fake.data <- matrix(rep(-100:100, 4), ncol =3D 4) par(mfrow =3D c(1,2)) boxplot(fake.data ~ col(fake.data)) abline(h =3D 0, lty =3D 2) boxplot(as.data.frame(fake.data)) abline(h =3D 0, lty =3D 2) ##### Add the missing data fake.data[190:200, 1] <-

Regression line does not show on scatterplot
Hello, I have done a scatterplot and now would like to add its regression line but it does not show. Below, the code I have used. lm3 <- lm(data$S_pH_KCl2.5_BCx~data$B_OleicoPF_BCx_per) plot(data$S_pH_KCl2.5_BCx, data$B_OleicoPF_BCx_per) abline(lm3) I have been able to do the complete operation using the software STATISTICA but it would be great to do it with R. If you require more details

Please, problem using “bcPower”
Hello, I would like to perform a Box-Cox (“bcPower”) transformation on my data. For this, I am determining lambda using the “powerTransform” function. However, with one of my variables I get the following Warning Message: In estimateTransform(x, y, NULL, ...) : Convergence failure: return code = 52 My variable is: > x [1] 0.0001031130 0.0001029480 0.0001040010 0.0001037940 0.0001046280

Boxplot.stats

questions about boxplots
Hi, there. I have two questions about using R to create boxplots. 1. The function boxplot() plots the outliers. How can I label the exact values arount these outlier points? Does R have an option allow me to do that? 2. How can I put two boxplots in one x-y axis? Thanks. Boxplot in R
I am trying to draw a plot like Matlab does: The upper extreme whisker represents 95% of the data; The upper hinge represents 75% of the data; The median represents 50% of the data; The lower hinge represents 25% of the data; The lower extreme whisker represents 5% of the data. It looks like: --- 95% | | ------- 75% | | |-----| 50% | | | | -------

Boxplot graphic
Dear R-users! I boxplotted some data. the class of the data is numeric. There are some outliers and I would like to see their names in the graphic. So, instead that the data points of the outliers are plotted as points, I would like to have their names plotted. First of, how can I give my data series (class numeric) names? Second, how could I adjust the boxplot to see the names of the outliers

boxplot
Hello R-users and developers, Once again, I'm asking for your help. I've used "identify" to identify points in a scatter plot. However, I can't apple in the boxplot..... I need to identify the outlier's id in the boxplot. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance, Ana Patricia Martins [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

How to suppress factor labels
I am using ggplot2 to make a boxplot that overlays a scatterplot: pp = qplot(time, error, data=times, size=I(1), geom="jitter", main=title, ylab="Error (min)", xlab="Time before ON (min)", alpha=I(1/10), color=times$runway, ylim=c(-30,40)) pp2 = pp + with(times, facet_wrap(~ runway, ncol=2)) print(pp2 + geom_boxplot(alpha=.5,
