install.packages and dependency version checking
I've started to implement checks for package versions on dependencies in install.packages(). However, this is revealing a number of problems/misconceptions. (A) We do not check versions when loading namespaces, ahd the namespace registry does not contain version information. So that for example (rtracklayer) Depends: R (>= 2.7.0), Biobase, methods, RCurl Imports: XML (>=

rmpi/snow grabs all available CPU
Hi, I'm testing affyPara on Debian lenny with R 2.7 from unstable, and the corresponding bioconductor packages from bioconductor.org downloaded using biocLite as per usual. The command cl = makeMPIcluster(k) succeeds, but spawns k R slaves which promptly soak up all available CPU, which is odd since they are not doing anything yet. This looks like a bug to me. Similar behaviour is shown

[nbdkit PATCH] protocol: Trivially implement NBD_CMD_FLAG_DF
The DF flag is only available to clients that negotiated structured replies, and even then, the spec does not require that it be implemented. However, since our current implementation can't fragment NBD_CMD_READ replies, we trivially implement the flag (by ignoring it); we don't even have to pass it on to the plugins. Enhance some documentation about sparse reads while at it (when we

installed.packages Error: subscript out of bounds
Hi, Today we've seen the following problem with the R-2.12 that we use for our Windows builds: > installed.packages() Error: subscript out of bounds After some investigation we discovered that the cause of this failure was that 1 of the 890 packages currently installed on the machine (Windows Server 2003 R2) had its DESCRIPTION file empty:

Problem with Active Directory authentication
Hi, I have a feeling that Rowland is correct that all the different authentication methods are interfering with one another. I can say all I have is winbind and it works fine for me. My relevant pam-auth-update modules are: [*] Unix authentication [*] Winbind NT/Active Directory authentication [*] Register user sessions in the systemd control group hierarchy [*] Create home directory on login

Hello -- I removed the ldap and sssd packages from the server, and I am trying to get winbind to work on the system.
