puppet for switches
This might be a crazy idea, but it just popped into my head, and I wanted to know if it''s possible. Perhaps not possible right now, but possible in a theoretical sense. Is it possible that puppet could be modified to be used to manage switches that have a command line based interface? When I manage our Allied Telesis switches (which have a CLI similar to cisco IOS) I wonder if I could

file share necessary?
On https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Setup_a_basic_File_Share the instructions says For the server to be useful you, will need to update it to have at least one share What do you need a file share for the server to be useful? Isn't a domain controller 'useful' to authenticate machines and users even if it doesn't have a file share? I would have thought

problems with puppetmaster using intermediate CA cert
Hi, I''m trying to develop a manifest to setup a new puppet master. To solve the SSL certificates I''ve created a root CA outside of puppet, and have generated an intermediate CA for the new puppet master to use. I''ve also configured my puppetmaster daemon to use it''s own ssl directory. So the new puppetmaster is at the same time a client of the old puppet

Samba-tool modify users info?
Hello, I'm wondering if there's a plan for including the possibility of modifying user attributes (must-change-at_next-login, profile-path, home-drive, home-directory, etc)? For the moment, it seems the only way to do this is when the user is created (samba-tool newuser) or by doing so via 'administrative tools' via a Windows machine. Thank You! -- Luc Lalonde, analyste

bind slave sync takes long
Hi, I do have two DNS servers running bind 9.7.3. One master, one slave. If I add/update a record on the master, it takes up to more or less 20 hours until that change is transferred to the slave. That is a long time for me :-) May be I got some settings wrong which would sync much faster ... ? What could be wrong? What might I check? Thanks for any suggestion and hint! Regards . G?tz --

Local vs. toll Dial Plan
Ok asked this earlier with no response so I will phrase it a different way. I am sure someone had to deal with this and there is a "best way." I want to let Asterisk make the decision on best path based on local exchange - xxx-yyy - where xxx is one of my local area codes and xxx is exchange designator. The problem is that the list is rather large. Maybe 50-100. The idea is that I can

DTMF Talk off
Hello all, I have seen some chatter again about DTMF. I see most of the talk about DTMF around not being able to get an external IVR to recognize digits, not a big issue for me at this time but sill interesting. My issue though, is with talk off on a zap channel. It seems to be getting worse or maybe my patience is thinning. All my calls go out and come in pstn through an FXO as I do not

DTMF feedthru again...
Ok trying this again... is there anyone using the SPA-3000 with * ???? I am not sure if this is a specific problem to it or not. This is something I really need to fix!!! When dialing out using * interfaced to an SPA-3000, fxs, fxo, I cannot access (reliably) DTMF menus at the called party, after call completion. Dialing DTMF is fine. I checked by calling myself. Listening to either end on a

AEL2
Being rather new to Asterisk I was wondering what the current status of AEL2 is? I see reference to it back in January but that was many versions ago. Is it in the current code? Dial Plan rules
Does it matter if you use upper or lowercase rules - I.E. - "x" vs. "X" or mix them? Not that I would do that as a rule but sometimes you make mistakes! samba_dns_question
Hai Rowland, I think you are mixing a few settings. http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch7/queries.html#additional-from-auth additional-from-auth yes | no ; additional-from-cache yes | no ; And www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch7/queries.html#auth-nxdomain auth-nxdomain yes | no; If auth-nxdomain is 'yes' allows the server to answer authoritatively (the AA bit is set) when returning

SAMBA4: pdbedit not changing SID
Since I don't seem to be having any luck with the classicupgrade, I decided to try starting from scratch and then adding users. I ran the command: /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool domain provision --realm=<my realm> \ --domain=<mydomain> --adminpass 'mypass' --server-role=dc \ --dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ Then I tried both adding and changing users. In neither case can I

Using Asterisk/callerid with "pay as you go"
If you asked this question on the biz list you would get a lot of people that will tell you that they offer services where you can set the caller ID to what ever you want. Changing CALLERIDNUM on the fly
Is what I am trying to do in this context possible. That is changing the incoming CALLERIDNUM. In this case if the incoming CALLERIDNUM is not preceeded by a "1" I want to add a "1". Often calls come in without the preceeding "1" and this plays havoc with my redial if the 3 digit area code matches a local 3 digit extension. All my outside calls are 10 digits or 1+10

Samba4 - Bind Config with DHCP
To those who will eb able to assist, Platform: On Ubuntu 12.04 I have used the latest Git version. I have installed isc-dhcp-server and bind9 from the plain apt repositories and have configured DHCP and BIND9 so that DHCP can update DNS entries via the hmac-md5 as so: key rndc-key { algorithm hmac-md5; secret "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX==";} allow unknown-clients; use-host-decl-names on;

Samba4: Extending the Schema
Hi We are thinking of Developing a corporate Directory application the would pull user information from Samba4 Ad. However for our needs we need some additional User attributes that don't seem to be available as part of the AD-schema, such as "Hire Date" or "Emergancy contact information", so it seems to me that I would need to Extend the Schema to make this user
