Fw: Cannot Authenticate via LDAP
Hello Christian,
I tried what you suggested by adding "REFERALS off"
to /etc/ldap/ldap.conf and restarting slapd and dovecot, but the error
persists.

[PATCH] mailbox_get_metadata() for mailboxes with open transactions.
Hi everyone,
I am writing a dovecot statistic plugin, which calls
mailbox_get_metadata() to get the virtual size of the mailbox, if a mail
is copied. I have noticed that mailbox_get_metadata() calls
mailbox_sync(), and mailbox_sync() will fail for the mailboxes with open
transactions. But if a mail is copied, there must be at least one
transaction opened for the mailbox. So I can not get the

lda+ldap multiple users
Hi list and timo,
I use dovecot lda with ldap to do a email => user lookup.
I experienced that if a Mailaddress matches several users the delivery
is aborted.

Fw: share a folder rw, but not deletable?
Is there a way in UNIX to make a folder with read+write permissions for
some group of users, but only allow them to read and write to the
folder... not actually delete the folder itself?
I have some samba shares, and directories inside them that I want to
remain with their current structure and permission settings -- with many
similiar group-specific files inside each folder, but I don't want

[BUG] Re: auth_bind with "()" in username not working
Hi guys,
I had a look in the sources about this problem.
the problem seems to be the ldap_escape function that is called from
ldap_verify_plain_auth_bind_userdn(..)
I dont really know if this escaping is needed at this point, but with
this change it works for me. No other problems discovered so far.
could somebody, who is deeper in the sources give me a hint if
this will make some troubles?

Dovecot 2.2.0 Compilation Error
On MacOSX 10.6, I get:
ld: duplicate symbol _cmd_batch in dsync/.libs/libdsync.a(doveadm-dsync.o) and doveadm-mail-batch.o for architecture x86_64
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [doveadm] Error 1
when compiling Dovecot 2.2.0. By contrast, 2.1.16 compiled (and runs) just fine.
I'm surprised that this hasn't cropped up elsewhere.

Multiple Passdb's - Order
Hi,
Today I upgraded my dovecot to a newer version (2.2.9 debian
wheezy-backports)
At that moment I also reconfigured the whole thing a bit nicer.
Now I stumbled on the following issue.
In my configuration I use 2 backends (LDAP & passwd-file).
passdb {
args = scheme=CRYPT username_format=%u /etc/dovecot/users
driver = passwd-file
}
passdb {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf.ext

Enabling Master User for migration
Hi all,
Ok, just need a quick-n-dirty way to enable a master user for a migration...
Reading the docs, I'm not sure what the bare minimum is I need to do this...
At: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/MasterUsers
The Example config shows:
auth_master_user_separator = *
passdb {
driver = passwd-file
args = /etc/dovecot/passwd.masterusers
master = yes
pass = yes
