R and Forex
Hi all,
I recently started learning about Forex and found this O'Reilly book in
Barnes & Nobles about R. I bought it out of pure curiosity. I like what I
see. However, I have a question. Has anyone tried to bring these two ideas
together in a financial and trading sense? Are there any libraries or
modules in R that can aid in this venture?

How to export X displays
I have a CentOS server at home and want to view the X display on a laptop running Ubuntu, and not having much success.
Here's what's been tried so far:
I ran this command on the CentOS server:
export DISPLAY=192.168.0.18:0.0
And ran this command on the Ubuntu laptop:
xauth +192.168.0.2
When I try to run, say, xclock on the Ubuntu laptop, this is the error message I'm getting:

weird load values
Hi List,
I'm stumped by this:
load average: 10.65, 594.71, 526.58
We're monitoring load every ~3 minutes. It'll be fine (i.e. something
like load average: 2.14, 1.27, 1.03), and then in a single sample,
jump to something like the above. This seems to happen once a week or
so on a few different servers (all running in a similar application).
I've never seen the 1 minute

export DISPLAY from Dom0
Hi all,
I test from 2 month now the xen project and i reach today a custom config with xen wich is stable and so much confortable.
Just a little problem with a GUI view for the XenU domains: as I read some message from archive devel-xen that "startx" from a domain doesn''t work, I try to work with Dom0:
1. startx from Dom0
2. open xterm
3. command: xhost +
4. command: ssh

Wine Display Help
I know this has been a popular topic, but seeing as this is day two of me trying to figure it out I give up, I need some help please.
I am trying to run wine on a CENTOS VPS. I am unable to run any .exe or xclock or anything of that nature. I get the common DISPLAY error:
[~/.wine/drive_c/windows]# wine notepad.exe

AIX <--> Solaris X11 Forwarding Problem
I have an X11 application installed on a Solaris 5.7 server. ?The server
runs the OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 daemon. ?I then SSH to this server from OpenSSH
2.3.0p1 under AIX with X11 forwarding enabled. ?I can run X utilities, such
as xclock and xterm, without any problems. ?However, the X11 application I
require (a Privacy Manager GUI) creates an empty window frame.
If I telnet from the AIX server to the

Tag forwarded X11 connection as remote
Dear all,
This thread began before I was on the list. I am wondering if it is
relevant for my question re: why/how older versions of openssh
recognized the X11forwarding "attribute" - and a better place to be posting.
Using Putty (and an "external Xserver program") as well as a another
"ssh client with built-in X11 service) and any version of openSSH prior

Solaris Dovecot dovecot dovecot-1.0.rc27
To all,
I am using Dovecot on solaris 10. Home directories are mounted using
NFS. However, they are not readable by root.
I compiled Dovecot from the source. I set the following environment
variables:
export LDFLAGS='-L/local/software/openssl/lib
-R/local/software/openssl/lib'
export CPPFLAGS=-I/local/software/openssl/include
Then I ran gmake
and the gmake install.

OK, what's the deal with the display, anyway ?
Does anyone have a consistent way to set the display for wine programs
to /anything/ (meaning something other than :0.0)? I have done the
followings:
ssh to the box I want to run the wine app from.
(As a result, DISPLAY was set to "tux:10.0")
I tried running
wine ./notepad.exe
from the Windows directory. This gave me the following:

Desktop cleared after reboot through VNC
Hello all,
After issuing the reboot command on my CentOS server while being logged in
through VNC and after the machine has actually rebooted, I get a blank
desktop (no icons and not my default wall paper) when logging into X,
whether I'm on the console or logging in through VNC.
If I go into my Desktop folder in my home directory, I see all the
appropriate .desktop files (but I don't
