XCP on Debian blog
I've created a blog entry about my XCP on Debian wheezy experiences http://danielpocock.com/migrating-to-xen-cloud-platform-on-debian-wheezy Please let me know if anything is inaccurate or could be explained better. I'm quite happy to add links out to other resources that are up to date.

Bug#715333: IPv6 security risks with XCP dom0
Package: xcp-xapi Version: 1.3.2-14 Severity: important I understand that XCP version 1.3 doesn't support IPv6 This blog talks about enabling it in v1.6: http://jeffloughridge.wordpress.com/2013/06/16/ipv6-in-xcp-1-6/ However, one observation that I have made is that the dom0 host, in a default wheezy installation, has kernel IPv6 enabled and appears to have a link-local address on every

unblock: xcp-xapi - urgent documentation fixes
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal The current README.Debian is quite old It gives some advice that will lead to people having a broken system (e.g. no networking). It describes a procedure for configuring networking that is completely opposite to what has been described more recently on the upstream mailing list http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=702337 I'm happy

migrating from XenServer / XCP to libvirt/KVM
I've been using XenServer / XCP (with the "xe" toolset) for a number of years for hosting servers used for development and free software projects and I'm now looking at migrating all those environments to libvirt / KVM. I had a look at the wiki[1] already and didn't see XenServer mentioned there. Could anybody help comment on or explain a few things: - comparison between

migrated RHEL7/CentsOS7 VMs fail to boot
I migrated a CentOS7 VM (the fedrtc.org site) from an XCP environment to a libvirt/KVM environment. This involved using qemu-img to convert the image from VHD to qcow2 and then using virt-install --import to define the VM in libvirt. Three problems occurred during boot: a) on the first boot, the BIOS screen and grub screen don't appear at all, the screen is blank for a couple of seconds and

Bug#702428: HVM networking tap/vif bug (Debian bug 702428)
Hi, I've been testing the Debian packages ahead of the Debian 7 release (which is very imminent) I believe this is a serious bug[1] in the package, as it appears that HVM networking is broken, or at the very least, requires some undocumented configuration step Specifically: - I can start the HVM domU without any vif - if I attach a vif, the domU will not start Looking at

Bug#695221: confirmed bug, serious
control: severity +2 serious I would call this an RC bug (serious), but not critical It would be critical if the user lost data from some unrelated application, etc It is serious because a) it makes the package and the whole system unusable for all but one very specific network configuration (users with a /24) b) using good old `xm' style Xen I never experienced any issue like this,

Package: xcp-xapi Version: 1.3.2-8 Severity: important Tags: patch Found race condition (specific only to slave hosts): xcp-xapi can start earlier than xcp-networkd due lack of dependency in init.d script. "No text console available" when trying to get the console of a just created VM from a template on XCP
Hi there, I am trying to set up XCP on Ubuntu 12.04. I went through the procedure given in the README file of the xcp-xapi package and reached the point where the hypervisor seems to be running fine. I set up a VM using the Debian Squeeze (64bit) template and started it, giving a Debian mirror URL as install-repository. Running "xe vm-list" reports that the machine is running, but when

XCP pool upgrade
Hi all! I am using XCP pool with 5 members. XCp version is 1.0.0 I want to upgrade my XCP to version XCp 1.1. I read that upgrading from 0.0.1 to 0.5 had some troubles including conflicts between different version of XCP (XCP 0.0.1 and XCP 0.5 conlicted each other in one pool). Does anybody did such upgrade? What troubles can I meet? :) _______________________________________________ Xen-users

XCP vs XenServer (free edition) or is it XCP mature enough?
Hello, I am a system manager of a datacenter. Is this moment, we about 30-40 xen servers running 2 or 3 domUs each of them. We are now using (standalone) xen over debian lenny. We manage each xen server independently, but we are looking for a central management console. At this moment, I have the doubt about using citrix xenserver (the free edition) or XCP. I didn''t know much

Bug#655303: xcp-xapi: document network configuration in README.Debian
Package: xcp-xapi Version: 1.3-15 Severity: normal By default, xapi listens on the loopback interface. To make it available over the network, its inventory needs to be updated with the bridged interface details. For example, if xenbr0 is the bridged interface, it needs to be set it: lnx200-39:~# cat /etc/xcp/inventory BUILD_NUMBER='0' CURRENT_INTERFACES='xenbr0'

Bug#717575: xcp-storage-managers: Wrong path of pidof in /usr/lib/xcp/sm/iscsilib.py
Package: xcp-storage-managers Version: 0.1.1-3 Severity: normal This was already reported in the archived bug 691805 but I sent an e-mail and I received back permanent delivery failure because this bugs has been archieved.
