missing Advisory at ftp.freebsd.org
Hi, I am missing the advisory for openssl at ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/CERT/ Background: For long time i used the the quickpatch utility at my workstation to notify me about issues and *how* to fix it. With the web based advisory this is not possible since the .asc file contains only the pgp signature (no more details). Regards, olli

About the FreeBSD Security Advisories
Hello.. I've noticed a delay between when the security advisories are sent and when the cvsup servers, ftp mirrors and web mirrors are updated. Is this delay on purpose to give the users some time to update/patch their system(s) before it hit pages like bugtraq, etc.. or is it just a caused by the delay between when the ftp/cvsup servers are synced? Best regard, Jesper Wallin

FreeBSD Patch question
I administer a remote server and want to apply some of the security patches. (I assume this is the best way to go since I can't go into single-user mode to use CVsup). I have a couple of questions. First, I have installed one of the pgp ports to verify the patches. When I run it, I get this message: > File 'buffer46.patch.asc' has signature, but with no text. > Text is

Attention FreeBSD Gurus
I received this piece of code in a patch that turns on the FreeBSD http filtering. I completely missed that it calls /sbin/sysctl directly which means I''m slipping on my auditing. def configure_socket_options case RUBY_PLATFORM when /linux/ # 9 is currently TCP_DEFER_ACCEPT $tcp_defer_accept_opts = [Socket::SOL_TCP, 9, 1] $tcp_cork_opts =

Dashboard or Foreman
Hi Guys, I''m reading about dashboard and foreman, and I''m wondering if there is anyone who made a comparison of the two? Can anyone help me decide which one to use? It feels like foreman is ''ahead'' for now? cheers, Walter Heck Engineer @ OlinData (http://olindata.com) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet

Need to refactor relocation handlers in ELF LLD
We have fairly large and complex code to handle relocations in Writer.cpp, Target.cpp, OutputSections.cpp and InputSections.cpp. They started with simple code, but because each patch added a small piece of code to the existing one, it is becoming out of control now. For example, we have lots of entangled boolean flags in the functions that interfere with each other in an obscure fashion. Even I

exact difference between RELENG_4, RELENG_4_5 . . . RELENG_4_8
Read the documentation on the meaning of the various 4.X tags, and am not sure what is meant by this: "The release branch for FreeBSD-4.6 and FreeBSD-4.6.2, used only for security advisories and other seriously critical fixes." Similar descriptions are used for the other RELENG_4_X tags. If I specify RELENG_4 will cvsup also include RELENG_4_3 to RELENG_4_8? Sorry folks - I'm

Loading an array of MiddleMen
Hi, I am currently working on a project that requires multiple rails applications (lets call them consumers, since they will consume requests) to exposes long running services that will be executed from a management rails application (the producer of the requests). To do this BackgrounDrb was installed on all the consumers and the producer. BackgrounDrb was configured to on each of the consumers

Asterisk as SIP <-> PSTN gateway
Hi, I'm new to Asterisk and have a couple of basic questions. We're interested in using * simply as a SIP <-> PSTN gateway using a T400P connected to one or more ISDN PRI lines (instead of using a Cisco box which would cost more and come with no hackable source code :-) First, is Asterisk's SIP stack up to date and fully functional with respect to the SIP protocol? Are there

new-kernel-pkg needs to be made Xen-aware
I ran "yum update" the other day on my dom0 and let it pull a new kernel. The RPM install scriptlet runs /sbin/new-kernel-pkg (part of the grubby package) to update grub.conf. It writes a new record to boot the Linux kernel instead of Xen. It would be nice if it noticed that it was running inside Xen and wrote a suitable record for that.
