Changing scaffold''s text_field to a password_field causes white screen of death in mozilla?
I had posted earlier about ''silent failure of a controller'', what seemed to be an intractable problem where I was getting failure of a particular action in a controller while others worked. What was irritating was that there were no useful messages. Nothing to the browser, nothing in logs, and even the breakpoints wouldn''t hit. Finally by a process of elemination I found

ZFS gzip Death Spiral Revisited
I have the following configuation. My storage: 12 luns from a Clariion 3x80. Each LUN is a whole 6 disk raid-6. My host: Sun t5240 with 32 hardware threads and 16gig of ram. My zpool: all 12 luns from the clariion in a simple pool My test data: A 1 gig backup file of a ufsdump from /opt on a machine with lots of mixed binary/text data. A 15gig file that is already tightly compressed. I wrote

r SIG birth, life and death
I would like to correspond or talk on the phone with anyone who has founded a SIG or participated in numerous SIGs and has thoughts or lessons learned about what makes them thrive, stagnate or die. Also, if anyone has written anything useful on this topic (SIG health, SIG growth, SIG moderation (in the social rather than the technical sense), and the like) I would greatly appreciate a pointer to

predict risk (% of death) at a certain time point
Dear all, Does any one know how to calculate the risk (death rate) at some time point (say 5 yrs) based on Kaplan-Meier curve in coxph model in R? I know how to fit the survival data with coxph. But need to calculate risk at some time point. Many thanks. Bill

FreeBSD 9.2-RC1 i386 frozen to death
Hey :-) I have just installed FreeBSD 9.2-RC1 on Dell Latitude D620 i386 laptop. After first run and installation of some packets with pkg(ng) then some xorg configuration when I was in console it hung badly with totally no response. This looks bad :-( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Tngr7YpP_I Best regards, Tomek -- CeDeROM, SQ7MHZ, http://www.tomek.cedro.info

Wow and death on ATI
Hi ! I have recently bought an ATI card. I have managed to get wow working with catalyst 8.5. It works quite good except the white minimap when inddor. But when I die all graphics become corrupted and I can't use the game anymore. Strangely to bring my character to life I can launch the game in d3d mode to, slowly, head towards my body. I have ffxdeath 0 and ffxglow 0 in my Config.wtf.

Upgrade then sudden death..
I recently put Cent 5.2 (64 bit) on a new server using a Supermicro pdsbm-ln2+ sys board. I did the original installation at home using the 5.2 dvd I got via torrent. I turned it over to my NOC tech and it went right online so he ran yum update. With the most recent kernel, which went in with the update, the server hung on grub (after reboot). He did a fresh (minimal) Centos installation and once
