CentOS 7 on Dell Inspiron with ATI Radeon HD 6320 video card
Hi, I'm currently installing CentOS 7 on a client's Dell Inspiron laptop. Here's the video card: # lspci | grep -i vga 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler [Radeon HD 6320] Most of the time, I either have to deal with Intel or NVidia graphic chipsets. As far as I understand, I can choose either the free 'radeon' driver or the

CentOs 6.4 and video drivers
The release notes for CentOS 6.4 state as follows: > With this release the ABI for the X.org video drivers changes, > possibly resulting in a failing X-Session. If you are running 3rd > party drivers - i.e. vBox addons, nVidia, ATI or ELRepo - you need to > ensure a compatible driver is loaded. I use flgrx from ELRepo. Does this mean that fglrx is now incompatible with CentOS? Yves

Centos 7, ATI card, 30" monitor
Well, I got my user back to being able to use his system, but I've still got one issue: it's running on the VESA driver - there is *no* Catalyst build for this monitor, for CentOS 7. From a lot of googling, nothing's been done since the summer of '14 (lspci reports it as a FirePro V3900). Any thoughts, or pointers, as to if/how I can get X - he's running KDE - to see the full

Using ATI Radeon X1300 Video Card with Centos 6.5
I have a ATI Radeon X1300 video card installed in a ThinkPad Advanced Docking Station where the laptop runs Centos 6.5. Upon Googling it seems that Centos 6.4 broke compatibility with the kmod-fglrx-legacy driver and that the only way around it is to downgrade X to an older version. However, the last note seems to be from before summer and I was hoping that there might have been some

ATI video driver problems
User got upgraded to 6.4. Graphical mode video fails. It's an AMD (nee ATI) RV620 (FirePro 2260). So I finished upgrading everything, including kmod-fglrx. Based on the xorg.conf's on there, it's been using the fglrx. Now, in Xorg.0.log, it tells me "no supported AMD display adapters were found". I've been on-and-off googling for hours, and can't figure out if the

transparent_huge_pages problem (again?)
Hi, I've experiencing problems with 6.5 guests on a 6.4 host when running hadoop with transparen_huge_pages enabled. As soon as I disable that feature everything returns to normal. I'm posting here because this issue cam up in the past: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=5716 That bug was closed with "resolved in EL6.4" but now it seems to have returned. Apparently there

XFS : Taking the plunge
Hi All, I have been trying out XFS given it is going to be the file system of choice from upstream in el7. Starting with an Adaptec ASR71605 populated with sixteen 4TB WD enterprise hard drives. The version of OS is 6.4 x86_64 and has 64G of RAM. This next part was not well researched as I had a colleague bothering me late on Xmas Eve that he needed 14 TB immediately to move data to from an

CentOS 7, ATI video, ex-X
A user running gnome came in this morning, clicked on the application menu... and it was much shorter than he expected. He could get to firefox, and googled about refreshing that... and found something that told him to reboot. And that's it: I cannot get X up, at all. I just get the "oh, no, something failed, please log out and try again". Fully updated CentOS 7, [AMD/ATI] Oland

Radeon graphics problems with CentOS 6.6
Hello, I saw in the CentOS 6.6 release notes that the Xorg ABI has changed but that "This should not concern anyone who uses the default drivers shipped with CentOS." I'm using the ATI drivers in Base but X still fails when I boot a CentOS 6.6 kernel. I was hoping this is a known problem that would get fixed with a kernel update but I'm still having problems with the

computationally singular and lack of variance parameters in SEM
Hi all, I am trying to set up a simple path analysis in the SEM package, but I am having some trouble. I keep getting the following error message or something similar with my model, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong: Error in solve.default(C) : system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number = 2.2449e-20 In addition: Warning message: In sem.default(ram = ram, S = S,

White Cube of Death - fglrx_7_1_0_SUSE103-8.452.1-1
Listmates (only posting to one list) Compiz has been running great with the 8.433 driver except for the libGL SONAME lockup on exit. see: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=344135 I just built and installed the 8.452 driver. Compiz would not start with the normal fusion-icon approach that I have been using with the 8.433 driver. This is on my Toshiba P35 laptop with an ATI

Blank screen while loading AMD/ATI graphics driver (fglrx) in Dom0 (Linux 3.0/3.2) with Xen 4.1/4.2
Hi, I had posted the following issue a few days ago in Xen-users but I haven''t received any answer yet. So I decided to re-post it here in hope for some solution. Here''s the original post: Xen wiki states that using linux 3.0 and above as dom0 works with all graphics cards. I could install the fglrx graphics driver on my desktop machine with a discrete graphics card (Radeon

A last, desperate hope - video modes
Hi, folks. This is, in fact, off-topic: I'm fighting a user's FC19 box. I updated him, rebooted... and his ATI video card seems to not be supported any more (and it's *not* that old - an RV620). The thing that drives me crazy is, when I reinstalled the whole system, whatever video driver the installer used for graphical install *worked*. So: does anyone have any idea a) what driver

CentOS 5 dual head doesn't work
I just bit the bullet and installed CentOS 5 on my work desktop, and although I have two monitors and a card that supports them, I cannot get the display configuration to work with both as a continuous (spanning) desktop. I have tried using the correct (autodetected) monitor type (digital and analog), a generic LCD with 1280x1024, nothing works. Every time I set the configuration, the X server

Centos 6 installation problem on i7 machine
I want to confirm that the solution posed by Ren? re installing kmod-fglrx from elRepo also works well for HP Proliant servers (in my case DL360 G6) with ATI gfx to restore the text boot progress display and virtual terminals.? Kudos for ending a long and maddening search for a fix. ref: https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32526 thx

(?) Dual-monitor wallpapers on CEntOS 6
I've recently set up two workstations running CentOS 6, one with an nVidia card and the elrepo drivers and one with an ATI Radeon card with the elrepo fglrx drivers. Both work well, but one aspect of the systems works different from CEntOS 5 on those systems: I cannot get a wallpaper image to span the two monitors. I have tried both with and without xinerama and there is no difference

Intel i7-940, DX58S0 motherboard, Radeon X1950 Pro video card
This computer is my main desktop machine --- an Intel i7-940 CPU and DX58S0 motherboard with a Radeon X1950 Pro video card. It's currently running Fedora 11 and working just fine. However, I have been slowly moving all of my "computer stuff" off of Fedora and onto Centos, and this (and my Acer Aspire One laptop) are the only Fedora installations that I now have left. Does anyone

Laptop display issue
I now have an older laptop with a display problem. I installed Centos 7 on it in February and had to install the xorg-x11-drv-ati and evdev drivers because the docking station has an ATI Radeon card. Everything worked fine with a dual display setup. I probably after that ran a system update but did not reboot while in this office. Today, when I got to the office again for the first time in seven

My games Heroes might and magic 5 tribes of the east and Civilization 4 are crashing on load in wine. They loaded before when I was using the Ubuntu drivers. Ever since I have changed to The ATI drivers have my Games stopped running.
