recommendable softphones / X-Lite / Zoiper for amd64?
Hi,
I am on amd64 Linux and not really too happy with twinkle, linphone
and ekiga. Unfortunately, X-Lite and Zoiper, even though they
provide Linux versions (w00t!) have only x86 versions for download.
Do you guys know of amd64 versions of those, or can you recommend
other softphones that will run on amd64, or which come with source
code?
Thanks,

Any free video (or audio) softphone VOIP client under Linux with touchscreen friendly interface ?
Hi,
I'm curious if anyone knows of any possibility to use video VOIP client
(like Ekiga or Linphone or...) under Linux that could be operated by
touchscreen friendly GUI (bigger buttons, large keypad, etc...) ?
I like Ekiga, but GUI is small and cannot be operated via touchscreen... But
maybe there are some skins for existing clients that are more touchscreen
friendly ?

FreePBX, Asterisk and Twinkle - Testing a new setup
I am experimenting with Asterisk having downloaded and installed the
FreePBX i386 CentOS-6.3 based distro and updated it. The current
package level on this system is:

I am using twinkle-1.4.2-7.el6 as a softphone testing tool.
There is no firewall on the asterisk host and SELinux is disabled on
it. Fail2Ban is installed but I have made no

Skype and Sound
I have installed Skype 4.0.0.8 on my new workstation running
CentOS-6.3 (kvm) and the Gnome DTM. This host has an Intel DG43GT
motherboard with on-board audio. The sound works when tested in the
sound preferences in the desk top.
Skype runs and the integrated usb video and microphone both work (I
infer this from the mic test in Skype options showing movement on the
intensity bar as I can hear

transferring calls from ekiga to asterisk
I have ekiga registering to a voip provider (skypho) and receiving
external call
through the stun server.
I want to redirect inconditionally all these calls to my asterisk
server, but I can't understand how and what should I configure in
asterisk in order to accept the redirected call.
In asterisk console I can't see nothing when ekiga passes the call.
If I turn asterisk's sip

OpenSSL Heartbeat exploit agains KVM guest systems
Is it possible to use this exploit against a kvm guest to read memory used by
the host? In other words: if an exploitable service, say httpd with mod_ssl,
is running in guest system 'vm1' hosted on system 'virthost' then what
implications does that have with respect to guests vm2 and vm3 and to virthost
itself?

Console access to kvm guest running WindowsV7
i86_64
CentOS-6.5
I have installed a Windows instance as a kvm guest on a host running
CentOS-6.5. I can access the desktop through the virt-manager console and
everythign seems to work, although the mouse cursor seems to get lost from
time to time.
The virt-manager console display supports various resolutions but when I
re-size the desktop display remains essentially a square inside a letter

Where to get Sernet-Samba4 questions answered?
Not wanting to build Samba4 myself I spent some time searching for rpm
packages suitable for use on our CentOS-6.5 hosts. I discovered
http://enterprisesamba.com/ which provides rpms (sernet-samba-4.1.4-7) for
CentOS-6. However, I cannot find an online support community for this package
and requests for help made to the samba.org list have met with absolute
silence. Since my requests had to do

Installing a gnome-desktop on CENTOS-6.3 following minimal system install.
I am still trying without much success to get a desktop on my minimal

I get a desktop but other than the icons for computer, home and trash
there is nothing displayed. I can right click the mouse and from
there I can open a terminal window and creat a folder on the desktop
but I have no title bar and no status bar. There are

Suggestiong for a tablet computer to run Centos-6/7?
I have an iPad Air. Nice kit and good battery life but experience has shown
the iPad is just a little too opaque and network dependent for my taste.
I was wondering if there existed a similarly sized/robust tablet that can run
CentOS-6/7 that anyone would recommend? I am looking from something that I
can take on international trips that I can scrub on a regular basis. But, I

Looking for a good lightweight Linux softPhone
I used to use IDEFISK, but since it was taken over/renamed into Zoiper
it's been really hard work - now I'm told that they won't support my
chosen distribution - Debian Etch - the current stable version of Debian I
prefer.
So, looking to dump Zoiper and go with something else - I want something
light-weigh (So that rules out Ekiga - and Zoiper was going down the
bloatware route

NUX Skype for Linux
I had cause to install the Skype for Linux package from the NUX repo.
I discover that this package is configured to automatically start
Skype whenever one logs on to the Gnome desktop. This behaviour I do
not wish. However, there seems to be no option in Skype to turn that
'feature' off. Is there any way to disable this in Gnome or elsewhere?
I will be removing Skype shortly when the
