ask for help on nonlinear fitting
I have a table like the following. I want to fit Cm to Vm like this: Cm ~ Cl+Q1*b1*38.67*exp(-b1*(Vm-Vp1)*0.03867)/(1+exp(-b1*(Vm-Vp1)*0.03867))^2+Q2*b2*38.67*exp(-b2*(Vm-Vp2)*0.03867)/(1+exp(-b2*(Vm-Vp2)*0.03867))^2 I use nls, with start=list(Q1=2e-3, b1=1, Vp1=-25, Q2=3e-3, b2=1, Vp2=200). But I always get 'singlular gradient' error like this. But in SigmaPlot I can get the result. How

stacking consecutive columns
I have a file, each column of which is a separate year, and each row of each column is mean precipitation for that month. Looks like this (except it goes back to 1964). month X2000 X2001 X2002 X2003 X2004 X2005 X2006 X2007 X2008 X2009 1 1.600 1.010 4.320 2.110 0.925 3.275 3.460 0.675 1.315 2.920 2 2.960 3.905 3.230 2.380 2.720 1.880 2.430 1.380

Linear Regression with slope equals 0
Hi there, am trying to run a linear regression with a slope of 0. I have a dataset as follows t d 1 303 2 302 3 304 4 306 5 307 6 303 I would like to test the significance that these points would lie on a horizontal straight line. The standard regression lm(d~t) doesn't seem to allow the slope to be set. Any help very welcome. ed

Random intercept model with time-dependent covariates, results different from SAS
Dear list-members I am new to R and a statistics beginner. I really like the ease with which I can extract and manipulate data in R, and would like to use it primarily. I've been learning by checking analyses that have already been run in SAS. In an experiment with Y being a response variable, and group a 2-level between-subject factor, and time a 5-level within-subject factor. 2
