selective virsh host permissions
As a Systems Administrator, I would like to grant permissions to a certain
VM using unix groups. In this example there is a hypervisor with VMs
A,B,C,D and there is a group called fortadmins. The solution I am searching
forI would just allow fortadmins to use libvirt/virsh commands on VM D.
Does libvirt/virsh provide any way to easily accomplish this goal?

Migrate VM's to different storage pool?
I am searching for directions for using live block migration to copy
running vm's to a different storage pool.
Example: VM1 running on Host1, the image(s) for VM1 are stored in
/var/lib/libvirt/images. I'd like to copy the disk image(s) that VM1
is using to /nfs/images. Without stopping/pausing/powering down the
VM.
Do you have any examples or documentation of how to accomplish this

fsck and guest images
Hey!
I have some RHEL6 hypervisors and the VMs are in raw qemu image files in a
local raid array linux raid + lvm + ext3. When a kernel update is installed
a reboot is necessary, usually it has been more than 180 days since the
last reboot and the file system is fsck'd and this takes 2-3 hours.
I am curious to know if there is any documentation that addresses the pro's
and con's of

KVM or Qemu
List-
I know this may be slightly off topic and if so tell me to hit up the
emu-discuss mailing list, but does anyone know how to detect the difference
between a guest that is being fully emulates using qemu and a guest that is
running para-virtualized using KVM?
I have and when I inspect the CPUs I see the following....
# cat /proc/cpuinfo
processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family

Is it possible to live migrate guest OS'es between different versions of kvm/qemu-kvm with libvirt?
Hi,
I currently have a couple of Debian KVM servers with all a different
version of kvm or qemu-kvm.
I can live migrate a guest OS from one server to the other just fine, as
long as the version of qemu-kvm is the same.
However, when I try to migrate a guest to a server running a newer (or
older) version of qemu-kvm, I run into problems. I think this is because
the xml configuration differs

Can I update libvirt while KVM guest os are running
Hello
I have a simple question.
Can I update libvirt RPM while KVM guest OS on RHEL5 is running.
Background
When I run rhn_register, then rhn-virtualization-host RPM was
installed by RHN. And then libvirt-python was also installed from
the RHN. The libvirt-python RPM has a dependency with libvirt.
And the dependency was not only the RPM file name, and also
specific RPM versions as well.

kmod-kvm
I use qemu-kvm on a Centos 5.2 server to run Windows XP virtually.
Usually a new kmod-kvm packages is released shortly after a kernel
update, and yum updates them both very nicely. However, two new kernel
updates have been released now without a kmod-kvm update. Does anyone
know if this package is still being supported?
Thanks

Acces to hypervisor from a KVM guest
Hi,
>From a KVM guest, I want to retrieve the hostname of the host on which the hypervisor is running.
Before doing that by using libvirt API, I first try via virsh.
So, I run virsh and the run hostname command.( got that in virsh help : .... hostname print the hypervisor hostname ....)
Unfortunately, I got following error when starting virsh :

Reg: Libvirt API does not return, after qemu-kvm is hungup.
Hi All,
I am facing the following issue, while using Libvirt version 0.8.4.
(1) Libvirt API does not return, since the qemu-kvm process is hung up.
Based on the information available on mail thread
*https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676205* (comment 26 - scenario
1),
this has been fixed in later version of Libvirt, specifically in RHEL
6.2(libvirt 0.9.4).
I have checked the

What's the most recent compatible libvirt and qemu-kvm?
Figured I'd test qemu-kvm-1.0.1 and libvirt-0.9.12, but the result after

Share names causing big troubles
I work for a school dist, and I am having a bit of trouble with the "Student
Server" We have about 3000 students all with their own accounts. I had the
samba server setup to share their home directories but their home
directories are the same as their login name. So jamie.mcparland would be an
example of a share name. But in Win 9X it gets truncated to jamie.mcparla
then we get the error

I have libvirt version 1.3.1. I am looking at libvirt.org/sources and see
more recent versions. Do I have the most up-to-date version? Do I need to
upgrade?

html5 icecast video source client
Five years after initially posting to this list[0], I finally completed
as browser-based video source client iceast.
The code is here:

As Romain Beauxis responded to my initial email, webrtc was unsuitable
and websockets was the way to go. Thanks for the help!

As far as I am concerned the command provided by Andrea disables
