smb + ldap: changing passwords from windows: SSHA instead of CRYPT
Dear friends, We have samba-3.0.21c-1 under RH9 + openldap 2.3.11 under FC4. When a windows user changes his password using Ctrl-Alt-Del the password is stored on ldap in SSHA format but we need to work with CRYPT because we have some apps that don't support SSHA. These are the lines related with authentication defined in smb.conf: encrypt passwords = yes ldap passwd sync = Yes

Asterisk authentication on LDAP (SSHA and SHA passwords)
hello guys, I'm working on a federal university at Brasil, we already have an openLdap with all users and this base is used to authenticate several services like email, vpn, wireless (RADIUS), and we have also Shibboleth providing SSO. During my studies of Asterisk, i see a lot of people talking about the incapacity of asterisk (more precisely because of SIP) to authenticate against a

Samba4 Exporting a DER
Hi guys, I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm trying to install a Zimbra password extension so that users who aren't joined to my Samba4 domain have a method to reset their passwords via the Zimbra Webmail and part of the setup requires the exporting of the domain controller DER. These are the instructions... As root, create the /opt/zimbra/lib/ext/adpassword directory As root, copy

Samba4 AD and Zimbra LDAP server
Hi all, I plan to upgrade Samba to be a AD server (using FreeBSD) I also have a Zimbra mail server using internal LDAP (it is OpenLDAP with a schema suitable for the mail server) At the moment I bind a few other web applications (Redmine, a wiki etc) to the Zimbra server for LDAP authorisation. Of course, I would like to simplify user experience by using the same user/password for the

Convert ssha password to sambaNTpassword?
Is it possible to take a SSHA password from an ldif and create a proper sambaNTpassword from it? Here's the scenario: the ldap servers in our organization do not have the samba schema installed and the likelihood of that happening is slim. I still want to provide clients with as close to a single sign on solution as possible and I can get an ldif of the accounts I need. However, the

SSHA Password Hashing
We are currently running a production mail server using version 0.990.99.11-2 (latest RPM from RHEL/CentOS). We would like to migrate more virtual domains off our courier imap server to dovecot but the courier imap user passswords are stored in LDAP and are SSHA hashed which is not supported by our current version of dovecot (CRYPT only). >From reading the mailing lists this feature is now

Set a temporary password on user accounts (samba4)
Hi there. I'm looking for a way to temporarily change password for some users. I have a samba4 install in DC mode (running samba 4.8.3), everything is working fine. I'm now migrating an email system which will use samba4 auth (Zimbra, but doesn't matter here). I'd like to set a temp password, so I can migrate imap trees with imapsync or similar, then, when everything is done,

SSHA with LDAP?
Poking around in the code for dovecot-stable seems to indicate that support has been added for the {SSHA} password scheme. This is not reflected in dovecot-ldap.conf. Is the SSHA code actually functional? Thanks! -Ben

Migrated fine except passwords

Hi, I've searched high and low and cannot come up with the answer to my question. Basically - I run Samba 3.5 as a PDC with openLDAP as my backend. I would love to try Samba 4.0 but I absolutely require the ability for freeRADIUS, my linux server and Cacti to authenticate against LDAP, of course this means I need to be able to add SHA512-Crypt and SSHA passwords into my LDAP db. Is this
