Problem joining Samba 4 to an older Samba 4 alpha 17
Hi there, Im trying to join a samba 4.0.1 server to an older samba 4 alpha 17 server. Whatever i do the join is interrupted but i dont know what goes wrong. Dns is double checked and correct as is most other stuff. How can i get a better view of what is happening than this? Can it be the source domain that contains erroneous objects? My goal is to move the old server to a new one, maybe there

Where is the default 'smb.conf' located?
I compiled and installed the latest samba 3.0.0rc1. I see that the binary executable was placed in the default location of /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd. However, I cannot located the default smb.conf file. I was expecting that the 'make install' script would have copied this file somewhere onto my system. Where is the default 'smb.conf' file located?

where to locate smb.conf for Samba4
Hi If I run the samba binary from a git and do a default install, I find smb.conf in /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf Fine. What about running the separate smbd, nmbd and winbindd binaries instead of samba? Do I still write my smb.conf in /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf? Question/summary/comment Could anyone please confirm where is smb.conf for: 1. Samba4 AD 2. Samba4 winthout AD running smbd,

Location of grub.conf etc. with UEFI boot (CentOS 6)
Hi, What's the proper/normal way of setting up GRUB for a CentOS 6 installation that boots using UEFI? I've recently set up such a system, but for technical reasons I mentioned in an earlier post, I booted in "legacy" mode during installation, which meant I didn't get the correct UEFI boot configuration, and had to set it up subsequently "by hand". I've

storing profiles on a 3rd host (NetApp), and [profiles] section of smb.conf
1. Is it okay to use an NFS-mounted path in the [profiles] path statement? 2. How do I make sure that owner & permissions don't get set to root on certain profile files when the user profile is migrated to the PDC 'logon path' area? -------------------------------------------------------- I've set out to move our Windows PCs into a samba PDC domain, and my first profile

Reducing code size of Position Independent Executables (PIE) by shrinking the size of dynamic relocations section
The generic-abi thread has gone into broader subjects of the benefits and desireability of the work. I'm willing to take it as given that the encoded size of pure-relative address relocs (i.e. R_*_RELATIVE equivalents)--ultimately the RODATA segment size of a given ET_DYN file--as sole metric is a worthy goal and the ballpark savings ratios we're seeing are worth committing to a new ABI.

smb.conf location
Hi all hopefully this may be an easy one, Basically i've compiled and installed samba3 (I used to be running 2.2.8a) however i've moved my smb.conf file from /usr/local/samba/lib to /etc/samba. I'm getting a problem where smbstatus is asking for the old location of the smb.conf which doesn't exist anymore. I can run a testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf which completes without errors

Problems connecting to samba shares from w2k or XP system after configuring smb.conf file...
I modified my smb.conf file according to an old doc I found online and I'm having problems logging in from either of my XP or NT boxes to access the shares on the linux box. I can see the samba linux server in My Network Places. I get the following error if trying to connect after navigating to it from My Network Places: \\lnxwebsrvr is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use

Looking for a script to add/remove multiple shares from smb.conf
Has anyone ever written a script to remove individual shares from the smb.conf file? I am trying to put together a script that will add & remove multiple shares at once by giving a <sharelist as input to the script. Adding shares is easy because I can just append the shares to the smb.conf file, but removing individual share entries within the smb.conf file without messing up the

Parsing regular expressions differently - feature request
Hi there, I rejoiced when I realized that you can use Perl regex from within R. However, as the FAQ states "Some functions, particularly those involving regular expression matching, themselves use metacharacters, which may need to be escaped by the backslash mechanism. In those cases you may need a quadruple backslash to represent a single literal one. " I was wondering if that is

Date parse - month and day reversed
I am getting the month and day reversed in parsing a date. I am wondering if there is some intelligence in Ruby that knows that at the moment I am in Mexico, as the parsing is working as if I was "6/15/2008".to_date => ArgumentError: invalid date "15/6/2008".to_date => Sun, 15 Jun 2008 What I really want is my date to be understood as month/day/year. Is there a way to

Where are Heimdal Kerberos library and headers located?
I'm trying to compile sasl from source on my Samba4 AD/DC. It needs the location of the kerberos library and headers. Where are these located, or at least, what is the library name? I can't seem to locate them via find using any of the search terms I can think of. I'm running Samba 4.4.16 Thanks, --Mark

Problem: Update of glm-object cannot find where the data object is located
Hi everybody, I want to ask your help to explain what is going on with my following code: > mydata <- data.frame(y=rbinom(100, 1, 0.5), x1=rnorm(100), x2=rnorm(100)) > glm.fit.method <- function(model,data,...){glm(formula=model,data=data,family="binomial",. ..)} > fit1 <- glm(y ~ x1 + x2, data=mydata, family=binomial()) > update(fit1, .~1) Call: glm(formula =
