mail_max_userip_connections exceeded.
Hi
I'm using Dovecot version 1:1.2.15-7 installed on Debian Squeeze via apt-get..
I have this error in the logs.

Upgrading 1.2 to 2.x
Hi
I'm about to upgrade to 2.1.7 in my test environment, but "doveconf
-n -c dovecot.1.conf > dovecot.2.conf" is producing a blank file, so I
am unsure how to proceed. I know a lot has changed between them, so I
don't really want to have to start from scratch unless I have to.
I have tried both as my user and with sudo.

Mails repopping
HI
I don't know if this is a dovecot issue or a client one. But as Dovecot is the most recent change, I'll start here.
I have a server that's been running Courier for about 6 years and in all that time I think I've only ever had 1 issues where an entire mail box was repopped by a webmail client. However, since moving to a new server and dovecot 4 weeks ago, I've now had the

Marathon Day 6 of First Install: MySQL Connection Problem
Hi;
This is my 6th day installing my first Postfix/Dovecot installation. The Postfix mailing list indicates I've got the MTA under control so now I'm seeking your help with the MDA. I get these errors with legitimate email addresses:

Mailbox statistics (sdbox / indexes) (+ wiki2 frontpage notes)
Hi,
I used to, with a simple script, loop over the filenames in a Maildir,
grab the From from the contents of the file and grab the flags
(especially "READ" and "REPLIED") from the filename, but after moving to
sdbox these flags are hidden in the index file.
Is there anyway to get these out of there programmatically without
having to resort to using an imap-client or is that

File Permissions and delivery
Hi
I'm very new to Dovecot (been using Courier for 5 years), but I've been persuaded of the merits of Dovecot and since the server needs upgrading that seems like the perfect time/excuse.
On a test server, I set up postfix and installed Dovecot (running 32-bit Debian Squeeze, installed from apt-get). I mirrored the mail store (Maildirs, for historical reasons located under

"Reapplying" sieve rules
I did a mistake (shame on me).
While migrating accounts on a new server, I didn't pay attention to a detail: sieve_max_actions, that I set to a low value for my testings, but then forgot to raise before the migration.
As a result, several redirect-only accounts have now their inbox filled with messages that should have been redirected to "real people", then discarded.

ACL and SSL
Finally got Dovecot to work on ports 100 and 143.
I would like to
a) Learn about ACL esp on port 110 as there are still yodellaks that try
to brake in on port 110.
b) Setting up separate SSL cert for imaps and pop3s.

per-user mail_max_userip_connections in userdb extra fields
Hi,
The documentation at https://wiki.dovecot.org/UserDatabase/ExtraFields
states that "It's possible to override settings from dovecot.conf", as
well as the following:

mail_max_userip_connections=10
Hi,
A couple of questions rather than a problem for once!
We've got our Dovecot server running smoothly now apart from our MD. He's
having problems with mail_max_userip_connections. He has 3
(Phone/Laptop/Tablet) items that all connect to the server at about the same
time. Which means he's frequently running over the max_userip_connections.
My questions are:
Is there

Meaning of mail_max_userip_connections?
Hi,
I set mail_max_userip_connections in our IMAP configuration to
mail_max_userip_connections = 10
to allow users 10 parallel connections. It seems that this also limits
the amount of parallel connections from one IP but different users?!
Our users mostly accessing the IMAP server by a webmailer or proxies.
Thus, all users (>10000) come from only 5 different IP. However, I got a
lot of

Dovecot 2.2.27 proxy - enforcing per client IP connection limits
Hi,
mail_max_userip_connections is only enforced at the backend level. The setting has no effect on proxy. If you want to force the limit then you can only do it in the backend.

Dovecot 2.2.27 proxy - enforcing per client IP connection limits
Hi,
Trying to keep abusive/buggy IMAP clients at bay on a number of Dovecot
proxy servers, I've reconfigured them to use
"mail_max_userip_connections = 50" in the "protocol imap" section,
followed by restarting Dovecot. Yet, I'm still seeing 160+ established
connections from a single IP address for the same email account. Am I
missing anything?
