Why stacking rasters return NAs?
I have several rasters that I want to do some calculations ,basically
calculating the moving average.
dir2 <- list.files("D:\\2010+2011", "*.bin", full.names = TRUE)
saf=stack(dir2)
movi <- overlay(stack(saf),fun=function(x) movingFun(x, fun=mean,
n=3, na.rm=TRUE))

package "growth" ... where is it ?
I would like to install the package "growth" as it contains the function
"corgram" and some other presumably useful stuff for time series analysis.
I can see it is in R standard library list:

Request for more flexibility in heatmap() width / height ratio
Hi R users,
I'm a quite extensive user of the heatmap() function, and as many others
i'm frequently frustrated by its fixed square width / height ratio. Here is
a typical example :
dev.new()
heatmap(matrix(rnorm(1200), nrow=10))
I have a non square matrix to plot with heatmap, as there are many more
columns than rows, row labels are larger than necessary but column labels

Reading images
Hi
Can anyone tell me how to convert an image file (a jpg file for instance)
into a matrix file?
The command image(blabla) transforms a matrix into an image file, I am
searching exactly the inverse.
Thanks...

Dear researchers
I wish to plot a box plot without the mean line (the black line) and the i
wish a full line for the standard deviation
This is an example
mytest <- c(2.1,2.6,2.7,3.2,4.1,4.3,5.2,5.1,4.8,1.8,1.4,2.5,2.7,3.1,2.6,2.8)

Wald test for comparing coefficients across groups
Dear R users,
my question concerns my interest in comparing the beta coefficients between two identical regression models in two (actually 3) groups. Disclaimer: I am quite new to R, so I might be missing some terminology that I have not come across.
I am trying to find out if I can easily implement a Wald test in R for this, but the only relevant thing that I came across is this link

How write raster files after manipulation?
I have 12 binary (raster) files
https://echange-fichiers.inra.fr/get?k=k3M2jatJyHy65Cs99G4 .
I would like to calculate the moving average for the 12 values for each
pixel in the 12 files.
For a simple vector we can get a moving average by using this :
x <- c(1,2,3,NA,NA,4,6,5,6,4,2,5)
movingmean <- rollapply(x, 3, FUN = mean, na.rm = T)
now I want

Oracle XMLType data
Howdy folks,
Has anyone had any luck getting Oracle''s XMLType to play nicely with
Rails? According to the docs, it''s just a wrapper around CLOB.
However the ruby-oci8 driver throws an exception about user defined
types if you try to query a table with an XMLType column.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Oracle OCI8, or "am I going crazy?"
All of a sudden, on three different systems, the "server_ip_address/sid_name"
syntax in database.yml has stopped working for me.
I can''t even do a OCI8.new(blah blah blah) statement from an IRB shell.
I get "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener", or some variant, depending on how I phrase it.
On systems where I have a real deal client installed, and OCI can find the

Edges and Rasters
Hi everyone!
I would like to draw a line surrounding my raster, with i want it in black,
and i don't know if its possible to change the colour.
A simple example is:
r <- raster(nrow=30, ncol=30, xmn=0)
r[]<-NA
r[393:409]<-99
r[423:439]<-99
r[453:455]<-99
r[456:460]<-30
r[461:469]<-99
r[483:499]<-99
r[513:529]<-99
plot(r,col=terrain.colors(100))

PostGIS 2.1 rasters available to Rails code: breadcrumbs
Just wanted to post this in case someone else was faced with the same
problem. It''s database-specific code, worse, it''s specific to a particular *
version* of a particular *extension* to a particular database, wires in
SQL, and uses eval on a string of data from the database!
So, you know, I''m getting coal in my stocking from DHH this year. I can
deal. (After the

plot method for rasters and layout
Hi list,
I thought I was used to layouts, but today I am facing a problem I cannot
overcome :
On my R installation (Windows 7 Pro, SP1, R version 2.13.0, daily update of
packages), I am not able to put raster plots in user defined layouts :
> layout.matrix<-matrix(c(1,2,3,4,5,5),2,3)
> layout(mat=layout.matrix)
> layout.show(5)
works fine, I get the correct frames in

Isolinux menu help
I'm trying to get the menu working with ISOLINUX. So far any time I use a memory test such as ram stress test or memtest86 it reboots or locks up.. If any one could point me in the right place to get some info on how to set up the menu It would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm using the "simple menu" that is included with the SYSLINUX package. I've used ISOLINUX for

Error: Mongrel timed out this thread: too many open files
I just switched to Mongrel, and it''s been working much better than my
previous lighttpd/fastcgi setup. So thanks for the awesomeness.
My current problem: once or twice an hour, I get following error in
production
Mongrel timed out this thread: too many open files
I never get it in testing or on our staging server. Any ideas what would
cause that? It doesn''t *appear*
