plot method for rasters and layout
Hi list,
I thought I was used to layouts, but today I am facing a problem I cannot
overcome :
On my R installation (Windows 7 Pro, SP1, R version 2.13.0, daily update of
packages), I am not able to put raster plots in user defined layouts :
> layout.matrix<-matrix(c(1,2,3,4,5,5),2,3)
> layout(mat=layout.matrix)
> layout.show(5)
works fine, I get the correct frames in

Edges and Rasters
Hi everyone!
I would like to draw a line surrounding my raster, with i want it in black,
and i don't know if its possible to change the colour.
A simple example is:
r <- raster(nrow=30, ncol=30, xmn=0)
r[]<-NA
r[393:409]<-99
r[423:439]<-99
r[453:455]<-99
r[456:460]<-30
r[461:469]<-99
r[483:499]<-99
r[513:529]<-99
plot(r,col=terrain.colors(100))

How to get the rolling standard deviation in rasters?
I am using this code to calculate the moving average mean.It worked fine but
when I wanted to also calculate based on sd(stander deviation) I got the
error shown below.
I read this documentation of R movingFun and found that sd was mentioned at
http://hosho.ees.hokudai.ac.jp/~kubo/Rdoc/library/raster/html/movingFun.html
I wonder if needs any other things to conseder or sd is not at all supplied

PostGIS 2.1 rasters available to Rails code: breadcrumbs
Just wanted to post this in case someone else was faced with the same
problem. It''s database-specific code, worse, it''s specific to a particular *
version* of a particular *extension* to a particular database, wires in
SQL, and uses eval on a string of data from the database!
So, you know, I''m getting coal in my stocking from DHH this year. I can
deal. (After the

parallel computing with foreach()
I have used foreach() for parallel computing but in the current problem, it
is not working. Given the volume and type of the data involved in the
analysis, I will try to give below the complete code without reproducible
example.
In short, each R environment will draw a set of separate files, perform the
analysis and dump in separate folders.

parallel computing with foreach()
Your code generates an error that has nothing to do with dopar. I have
no idea what your function stack is supposed to do; you may be
inadvertently calling utils::stack which would produce this kind of
error:
> stack(1:25, RAT = FALSE)
Error in data.frame(values = unlist(unname(x)), ind, stringsAsFactors = FALSE) :
arguments imply differing number of rows: 25, 0

R base package grid does not output raster image
Hi,
I don't think this is a remote desktop issue. I can run the following
code by remoting into both a Windows 7 machine and a Windows Server R2
machine. I can see the results on the Windows 7 machine but not the
server.
> library(grid)
> grid.raster(1:10/11)

merge large number of raster objects
Hello,
I have a large number of raster objects in memory, with names RH100,
RH101, RH102, etc. (myobjects <- ls(pattern='^RH')).
These rasters are sections of a continuous map, and I would like to
combine them using the RasterObject merge tool in package 'raster.'
Merge expects an input list of raster objects (outmap<-merge(x, y, ...),
where x, y, and ... are raster

how to image.plot a XY grid file into a lat-lon map
Hi All,
I have a netcdf gridded file with LCC projection. I can easily use
image.plot to visualize it. However, as the axises are in X,Y, not Lat and
Lon, I could not add state or country maps onto it (or lat lon information).
I do have a grid2d file that describes the lat and lon for each (X,Y) grid,
but the lat and lon are not regularly spaced, so I could not use image.plot.
Does anyone know

R matrix to Python
I'm trying to export an R (1.4.0 on linux) matrix to python
(+Pyclimate) via a binary file. The problem is
that while R writes by columns, python reads
by rows. For a 2D matrix, there is no problem:
writeBin writes vectors, so
writeBin(t(x)[1:length(x)],...) works fine.
But the objects I want to export are 3D arrays
(slice rasters of lat,lon for each time t).
One way is to use a loop over

adding header info to write.table
Hello,
Could someone please tell if there is a way to append header info to the top of an exported dataframe (exported with write.table). I want to append the following, which are the defininitions for an asciigrid:

nrows 999
xllcorner 510465
yllcorner 4766375

Raster table: how separate lines with the same value (count > 1)
Dear all,
I intend to do some statistics with my raster table, like correlations or
regression analysis. For that, I need that each pixel be in one line, that
is, there is no count > 1. So, all columns should have the same number of
lines, when I compare (combine) rasters.
I'd like to know if there is a way to create lines and copy the values of
the lines, when count is > 1. So, even

How to loop several binary files from two directories?
I have two binary files(rasters) with the same dimensions. The first file is
called `over` and the second is `corr`. I want to replace values in `over`
by `NA` whenever `corr` is greater than 0.5.
to read the two files we can use:
conne <- file("C:corr.bin","rb")
over <- readBin(conne, numeric(), size=4, n=1440*720, signed=TRUE)

coordinates.
Can anyone help me out?

png() and pdf() alignment problems
Hi all!
My aim is to print a thematic map containing
vector output and an image backdrop (six orthophoto tiles).
The size of one image tile is 2500 rows and 2500 columns.
The are six tiles to be printed.
Of course this is far to much for sending the job to a pdf() device.
The raster image would consist of 37500000 squares,
each representing a raster cell.
So my a attempt was to separate vector

Conditioned Latin Hypercube Sampling within determined distance

I am a begginer in R and I have been trying to use the Conditioned Latin
Hypercube to choose sample points only in areas close to roads due to the
difficult thorough access in the study area. I could use a code to create
the points throughout the area, but I need to create a code to make the R
only comes up with points close to this road. I've been using the packages

Patch: fix segfault from empty raster
Hi,
A colleague recently came across an R crash, which I can boil down to
the following, running under Rgui on Windows 7:
library(ggplot2)
ggplot(data.frame(x=1, y=1, z=4.7), aes(x, y, z=z)) + stat_summary2d()
This reliably causes a segmentation fault. sessionInfo() below.
What's happening is that (for reasons which I'll discuss with the
ggplot2 developers) the 'colorbar'
