Conditional looping over a set of variables in R
Here's the problem I'm trying to solve in R: I have a data frame that consists of about 1500 cases (rows) of data from kids who took a test of listening comprehension. The columns are their scores (1 = correct, 0 = incorrect, . = missing) on 140 test items. The items are numbered sequentially and are ordered by increasing difficulty as you go from left to right across the columns. I want

COX PH models for event histories?
This is a question about the use of the Cox proportional hazards model to analyze event histories. I am looking at the responses of sympathetic nervous system activity to a stimulus. The activity I observe is a burst that can only occur once per heart beat cycle (e.g., a binary count). Typically bursts occur in 60-80% of the heart cycles * sensory stimuli can modify these burst probabilities.

RMark error: only 0's may be mixed with negative subscripts
Hi all, I have just started using RMark to analyse capture-recapture data. I am trying to analyse a simulated data set using the Robust Design (two primary periods with three secondary sessions in each) to estimate apparent survival. On specifying the time intervals (that tell R about the primary and secondary sampling sessions), this is the error I get: > time.int <- c(0,0,1,0,0) >

Installing xaudio2 (Serious Sam Second Encounter HD)
Is there a way to install xaudio2 without using the large `winetricks directx9' ? I am asking because I would like to try serious sam second hd, but in a clean wineprefix it does not start asking for a xaudio2 dll. I copied that .dll inside the game directory, but the game starts soundless and it shows an error about an non-updated xaudio2. A part of the lack of the audio the game runs

cupsaddsmb encounter with good info supplied
Hi People, Trying to be as informative as possible: I'm trying to add printers drivers to cups-owned, samba shared printer. Called "PDF-Creator" But when I issue the command "cupsaddsmb -U root -v PDF-Creator" I get a "NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE" Weird thing is: I was able to do this a few months ago. But I noticed the drivers where missing when I wanted to add

glm and capture-recapture
Hello, I am almost new in R, so perhaps my question will be silly. I try to use R for analyzing capture-recapture data in epidemiology. A cancer registry has different sources of patients. We know in each list, patients already known in all other list. The aim is to use capture-recapture models for estimating the number of patients unknow of all the sources. Because no order in sources, one

how a latent state matrix is updated using package R2WinBUGS
I'm trying to understand how a latent state matrix is updated by the MCMC iterations in a WinBUGS model, using the package R2WinBUGS and an example from Kery and Schaub's (2012) book, "Bayesian Population Analysis Using WinBUGS". The example I'm using is 7.3.1. from a chapter on the Cormack-Jolly-Seber model. Some excerpted code is included at the end of this message;

Replay mail to test MTA + filtering
Hi All, My kit : Centos4.4 + Postfix + SA + ClamAV (not that its relevant) General question - Does anyone know of a product which can take a folder / mbox of mail (spam, ham, virus infected stuff, scam mail and hoaxes) and "replay" it back against a test server to determine the servers ability to filter? I have looked at some low level (IP) packet replayers, but i cant really find

GLMM random effects
Hello, I have a couple questions regarding generalized linear mixed models specifically around fitting the random effects terms correctly to account for any pseudo-replication. I am reading through and trying to follow examples from Zuur et al. Mixed Effects Models and Extensions in Ecology with R, but am still at bit unsure if I am specifying the models correctly.
