Hi all! I'm looking for a frozen-bubble that works on C7. I've tried installing the one in the Nux C7 archive, and the installation dies with: Error: Package: frozen-bubble-2.2.1-0.10.beta1.el7.nux.x86_64 (nux-dextop) Requires: perl(Compress::Bzip2) Can't find perl(compress::bzip2) anywhere. thansk in advance! frozen bubble for C7
That perl lib was most likely in EPEL at the time I added Frozen Bubble. They orphan packages once in a while breaking my deps. Anyway, I've added perl-Compress-Bzip2 to my repo and Frozen Bubble should install fine now. -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! hacking grub to control number of retained kernels.
I've recently had this problem on two C7 systems, wherein when doing "yum update", I get a warning about /boot being low on space. both systems were installed using the partition size recommended by Anaconda, right now "df -h" shows /boot as 494M, with 79M free. I don't store unrelated crap on /boot, I assume that yum and/or grub will manage it for me. So, why, after

playing DVDs on C7
Hi all! I'm trying to finish setting up my newly upgraded C7 system. It's on the same hardware I ran C6 on for several years. on C6 I had no trouble playing DVDs (after installing tons of packages and libdvdcss). Well, on C7, I've got totem (videos) and all its plugins I can find via yum, VLC (from nux) all the gstreamer and gstreamer1 packages I can find, everything with

Centos 5.5, not booting latest kernel but older one instead
I've been going along not noticing things happening right under my nose. so imagine my surprise when I discovered last night that my Centos 5 box has installed multiple new kernels over the last few months, as updates come out, and IT IS NOT BOOTING THE NEWST ONE. grub.conf says to boot kernel 0, and 0 is the newest one. but the one it actually boots is 6 or 8 down the list (clearly I've

deprecations leading up to C8
Was reading the long list of things being deprecated in the RHEL 8 release notes t'other day, and saw my old friend sendmail on the list. I've stuck by her because I've learned how she likes to be stroked to get the best out of her, and quail at the thought of taking on a new MTA and having to learn it all all over again. But I guess I'm going to have to, soon or late, probably

How do I...
Only tangentially on topic, at best... Given a pile of html files, comprising chapters of a book, with a single html file that serves as a table of contents to the group, how would I turn the entire book into a single PDF? I can't think of a way to do that, all I can come up with would result in a pile of PDFs, one per html. But there's gotta be a better way. Suggestions welcome.

centos-5.5 VS Firefox 3.6.12
My firefox auto-installed an update from 3.6.11 to 3.6.12 this morning, after which it gives this upon a restart attempt: Program received signal SIGBUS, Bus error. 0x00123c47 in memset () from /lib/ld-linux.so.2 while I dig deeper, wondering if anyone else has seen it and/or can suggest a fix. Pidgin problem on 5.2
Having a problem with Pidgin that may have come after the 5.2 upgrade. I don't use pidgin daily, but the last time I used it (a week or two ago) it was fine. Now, when clicking the icon nothing visible happens. When I open an xterm and run it from there I get this: $ pidgin libnm_glib_nm_state_cb: dbus returned an error. acrobat reader for x86_64?
Adobe doesn't seem to have acroread for x86_64 linux, or at least I don't see it anywhere. Anybody know otherwise? touchpad problem
Hi all! I have a new-to-me (i.e., used) laptop and am having a problem making the touchpad behave. It is an old HP Elitebook 8530p, and I THINK it has a synaptics touchpad. But I don't remember how to get more specifics than that on Linux, lspci, lsusb and lshw don't tell me anything helpful. lsmod doesn't list anything containing "syn" or "synaptics". Anyway,

Yum package/instlal/update problem
Hi gang! I'm trying to update my videolan client (0.8.4a-4.el4.rf) to the latest 0.8.6 version. I see that Dag has a 0.8.6 for EL4 (I'm running Centos 4.4) but when I do "yum update videolan-client" it says there's nothing to update. When I remove the videolan client than do "yum install videolan-client" it insists on trying to install the 0.8.4 version:

firefox 18
Has anyone managed to get FF 18.0 to work on Centos 5.8? I've been hacking at it, placing a stack of .so files (from Centos 6) into a private directory, then using LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point the system to (in a shellscript that subsequently invokes ff 18) but so far I've not managed to find the right combination. I've moved over libstdc++, all or nearly all the .so files from glib2 and
