lvm and kickstart issues deploying CentOS5.5
Hi. I'm currently trying to configure a kickstart script to do auto installs. We split up the partitions so that we have control on the mount security like setting no execute on the tmp portions etc . I keep hitting the same error : "Could not stat /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol_root --- No Such file or directory The device apparently does not exist; did you specify is correctly " Even

[PATCH 2/2] com32/disk: Improve flow at disk_write_sectors and disk_read_sectors.
This patch will improve the flow at disk_write_sectors and disk_read_sectors significantly, but it *will* introduce bugs if either of the above functions gets called before disk_get_params. --- com32/include/syslinux/disk.h | 21 +++++ com32/lib/syslinux/disk.c | 170 +++++++++++++++++++++-------------------- 2 files changed, 108 insertions(+), 83 deletions(-) diff --git

Kickstart syntax for CentOS upgrade
I'd like to automate the upgrade from CentOS 4.6 to 5.1 as much as possible. Since upgrades per se are not really recommended, I'm planning to do a kickstart installation. However, I want to leave one of the existing partitions (/scratch) untouched during the installation. Here is my current layout (LogVol00 is swap so not shown in the df output below): # df -hl

ext3 partition on LVM lost all data
Hello Gentlemen, I would like to ask a question about an issue I have with the Centos 6.3 installation. I have installed a Centos 6.3 on a server we used before with 5.4 on Friday. I have created a KS file to let me connect to the server via VNC and have all repos and packages preconfigured. I only needed to partition the hard drive using VNC. During the partition process I selected which

[PATCH 2/2 v2] com32/disk: Improve flow at disk_write_sectors and disk_read_sectors.
This patch will improve the flow at disk_write_sectors and disk_read_sectors. It does that by creating a table of values respective to the operation. Besides, read and write operations are pretty similar to each other, so I redesigned the routines to avoid duplication. Anaconda ignores "cmdline" directive
Hello, Our environment: CentOS 5.2 (updated over time with "yum update", current "yum update" lists about 7 packages out of date), x86_64. Running Xen, building Xen DomU's with kickstart. We are trying to debug the %post part of the kickstart process for DomU and are hitting difficulties in accessing the output. For a start, the "cmdline" directive in the

vda or sda in the guest
Hello, I've used virt-install + kickstart to setup machine. Then I've moved the script to a production machine and in the guest the disk was not 'vda' but 'sda', how is this done? There are differencet vesrions of libvirt between my fedora (tesing system) and gentoo (production system). Robert -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

[PATCH 00/12] Multidisk support
Hello, the following patches should get multidisk access working. The syntax accepted is the following: (hdx,y)/path/to/file where x is the disk number and start at 0 and the y is the partition number starting at 1. So (hd0,1) is the first partition of the first disk. the other accepted syntax is using MBR's 32 bits disk signature so for example: (mbr:0x12345678,2)/foo/bar would address

anaconda, kickstart, lvm over raid, logvol --grow, centos7 mystery
I am testing some kickstarts on ESXi virtual machine with pair of 16GB disks. Partitioning is lvm over raid. If i am using "logvol --grow i get "ValueError: not enough free space in volume group" Only workaround i can find is to add --maxsize=XXX where XXX is at least 640MB less than available. (10 extents or 320Mb per created logical volume) Following snippet is failing with

kickstart compat C7 -> C8
Hi all, I still use the following kickstart partition scheme for C7 installations (via virt-install): Briefly, fixed size for /root and /boot, and the rest is filled up for /srv. The same kickstart (despite that c7 uses vda, f29 uses sda) doesn't work with Fedora29 (EL8). I get a "device is too small for new format" error. Any hints? part /RESCUE --fstype="ext4"

Problem creating volgroups with kickstart installations (on xen)
I'm testing doing kickstart installations on Xen VMs. This is the first time I'm trying out kickstart at all, so I rather think I'm doing something wrong in the kickstart configuration than it is a Xen issue. I use a modified kickstart file from an earlier manual installation with a very basic filesystem setup. It fails with "SystemError: vgcreate failed for VolGroup00".

[PATCH 0/6] chain.c32 patches
This small set fixes few bugs, improves gpt handling (under buggy conditions) and implements strict flag with more fine grained control which should fix issues with sanity checks against disk sizes. If this set is allright I'd want to do what I mentioned in older discussion with Ady - backport missing patches from 6.x to 5.x and 4.x so all versions have up to date chain version. Michal

PATCH/RFC chain.c: update iterator code, yank from chain.c, move both to separate directory
1) code split and move Iterator related functionality is yanked from chain.c and moved to iterator.{c,h}. Both are moved to com32/chain and this way chain.c is ready for further splitting. Alternatively, partiter could be moved to com32/lib at any time in the future. It's potentially useful for other modules (e.g. if someone wanted to code partition dumper or editor). 2) Iterator updates

Minimal Kickstart setups to use with Puppet
Hi, I was at the Puppet talk at Oscon and I would like to try using Puppet for PXE on RHEL machines and I was wondering if there are standard minimal Kickstart recipes from which Puppet can then take over. Thanks, Jason van Zyl jason at maven.org
