debugging TLS with wireshark and a custom application ?
Hi! My question is: can dovecot be used to debug/decrypt TLS sessions ? The reason I'm asking: A custom application wants to speak IMAP with TLS with a dovecot instance. It fails, and the error message is, unfortunatly, not very helpful. tcpdump shows that the session is established, but fails. The custom application says error 60000, not much more. There is a way to decode TLS sessions

Sieve not exists
I thought this was working as intended, but I have recently been getting some random messages put into this mailbox that definitely have list-ip headers (including some messages from this list) and that do not have multiple addresses. I believe this started happening on 20200922, which would hav been when I applied the most recent update to dovecot, as that is when the listCC box seemed to

bin/152154: script(1) -k malfunctions with certain shells (e.g. tcsh, bash, zsh)
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=bin/152154 It has been suggested to me (by a committer) that I should raise the issue of this PR here on these lists, because the problem described within the PR remains a real problem, and despite my having proposed something that seems to be a perfectly workable fix, no action has been taken on this PR for some years now. Regards, rfg P.S. The

Restricting users from certain privileges
Hi: I could not figure out how to restrict users or other users from certain privileges to execute certain commands in FreeBSD/NanoBSD? What I meant is I want to create a NanoBSD image in which there will be an additional user, say 'admin'. I need to give this new user (admin) some privileges to run some root-can-only-execute commands, but not all (ACL similar to the firmwares in adsl

FreeBSD 9.1 stability/robustness?
I need to build up a few servers and routers, and am wondering how FreeBSD 9.1 is shaping up. Will it be likely to be more stable and robust than 9.0-RELEASE? Are there issues that will have to wait until 9.2-RELEASE to be fixed? Opinions welcome. --Brett Glass

samba-3.2.0.1-smbd hangs up when kernel has ipv6 disabled
Hi all, Working on samba-3.2.0.1 on an ARM board(fedora-8:ARM). With IPV6_ENABLE not set in the kernel config i find smbd hanging up continuously. strace showed the reason as --> EAFNOSUPPORT(Address family not supported by protocol) with socket and bind system calls to specified interfaces failing. So compiling the kernel with IPV6 enabled and then burning kernel image on the board, smbd

Problem reading vitals from Gigabyte H77-DH3H
Hello everyone, I'm unable to read temperature Gigabyte H77-DH3H motherboard. Is that motherboard supported or am I doing it incorrectly? When trying to access hw.acpi.thermal everything appears to be ok, but it is not, the system always returns 27,8C and 29,8C which fooled me initially - the values never change. Here is output: [chinatsu]:/root# sysctl hw.acpi.thermal

ethtool-like utility for FreeBSD ?
Hi! There is a posting public about Intel ethernet adapters and their packets of death: http://blog.krisk.org/2013/02/packets-of-death.html Now, how can we test the EEPROM from FreeBSD, similar to the ethtool of Linux ? Thanks for any pointer! -- pi at opsec.eu +49 171 3101372 7 years to go !

How do I configure additional serial ports?
I have installed two 4-port serial cards (http://www.startech.com/ Product/ItemDetail.aspx?productid=PCI4S550&c=US) on a CentOS 4.4 system. The hardware appears to be recognized correctly, as kudzu added 2 entries to /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and lscpi shows both cards (output of lspci -vv for both cards included at the end of this email): # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation

BIND segway -> python -> first-class ports

BIND 9 will > certainly have a EoL before the EoL of FreeBSD 10.x, and we can't use > BIND 10 because it requires importing Python to base. I'm coming more and more to the conclusion that we should have a minimal Python in "base". More and more people

Default router on different subnet - Is it possible?
In the below example normal Internet traffic is routed as shown from node1 to internet1. The node1 defaultrouter points to the firewall and the firewall points to internet1. For node2 is it possible to add it's own link to the Internet passing through the same default router and firewall as node1. The links do not need to failover or provide any redundancy. node1---node1

Opensolaris domU unable to get dhcp lease
I''m running a ubuntu 9.04 64 bit dom0 with kernel 2.6.29.6 and xen 3.4.0. My eth0 is bridged to br0 and to my guest VMs. The dom0 is running a dhcp server on br0 which is able to provide leases to physical machines on eth0, and also to a windows xp domU which is bridged to br0. However my open solaris 2009.6 domU is unable to obtain a dhcp lease. On the opensolaris side I can see this:

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone, This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users. I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD. If you had to
