bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hello Rolawnd, I followed the wikipage exactly. Bind9 is installed on the Samba DC. The Linux-Client should be a member of the Active Directory-domain? Dynamic update dns records with dhcp
Hi, I need some info regarding what conditions make dhcp dynamic dns updates essential? Has Samba a limitation with accepting dns record update requests from logged clients? The wiki page doesn't contain such information except: "You must stop your windows clients from trying to update their own records, as this will fail and fill your logs with errors." Does this mean it is

bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hi Rowland, I resolve the problem partially. The problem was due to the fact that I do not have winbind installed because Samba 4, Bind9 and isc-dhcp-server are on the same server. I commented on these lines in the script dhcp-dyndns.sh and it worked (on commit and on release but not on expiry ) #TESTUSER=$(wbinfo -u | grep dhcpduser) #if [ -z "${TESTUSER}" ]; then # echo "No

Samba AD DC + external DHCP + BIND9_DLZ dynamic dns updates doesn't work for domain members.
Dear All, I have a setup with samba acting as active directory domain controller, DNS updates are done via bind DLZ. I have recompiled it to allow spnego. DHCP server is external, no changes in it are possible. Domain members try to register in the DNS, KDC is aware of them, however no DNS entries for them are created and BIND returns errors. Any hints are welcome since I really need it working.

Samba - Bind9 DNS - ISC-DHCP - obsolete DNS entries
Hi, thanks for reply. Having the information that this is no situation considered yet is already helpfull - telling me that I have not missed / missconfigured something. :) I think the better solution for me is to not even create the unwanted entries. Filtering for "automatic" dhcp created hostnames (matching '^dhcp-.*$') to not be added into DNS should to the trick for me

DHCP & Dynamic DNS
I have followed the Wiki here http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO On setting up Samba $ as a DC in it's own real. So far so good and all looks to be working well. What this document seems to be missing is a "how to" on DHCP dynamically updating Samba 4's Integrated DNS server (which is the one I am using). Does anyone know of a how to on this? PS: So far, very

bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hi Rowland, I have not another dhcp server. dnsmasq is not configured. I think the problem may be permissions. Which distribution linux do you use, Ubuntu? I was tracing the script code dhcp-dyndns.sh, when the execution on the first line fails Is correct this instructions in Debian: chown root:root /etc/dhcp/dhcpduser.keytab chmod 400 /etc/dhcp/dhcpduser.keytab ----- Mensaje original

Dynamic DNS tips? (Samba 4.8.x + Bind9_DLZ)
What's the recommended method for handling dynamic DNS updates? via Kerberos, DHCP scripts, or both? I'm currently doing both (I think), but Windows 2012R2 clients sometimes complain about not being able to update since it's been done by the DHCP script (and the DNS record is owned by the DHCP user). However, a bigger issue is that I've seen the scripts REMOVE an entry upon
