Forcing clients to use NTLMv2 in 3.6.12
All, I need to force XP clients to use NTLMv2 when mapping to samba 3.6.12. My config is: ntlm auth = No client NTLMv2 auth = Yes client lanman auth = No client plaintext auth = No lanman auth = No XP systems can still map shares with the above config. centos-5.5 VS Firefox 3.6.12
My firefox auto-installed an update from 3.6.11 to 3.6.12 this morning, after which it gives this upon a restart attempt: Program received signal SIGBUS, Bus error. 0x00123c47 in memset () from /lib/ld-linux.so.2 while I dig deeper, wondering if anyone else has seen it and/or can suggest a fix. Building 3.6.12
All, I'm trying to build Samba 3.6.12 on Solaris 8 sparc using studio 12. Is this the correct forum to ask questions? This is my first build so any tips/tricks are appreciated. What are the prerequisites to get samba to compile so that it will join an AD domain? TIA, -Kevin

Groups not updating on 3.5.10 (centos) or 3.6.12 (enterprise samba)
Hello everybody, we're trying to set-up Samba to share directories with Win users from some Linux servers. We've set up kerberos, gotten a ticket, joined the server to the domain, we get correct users/groups from "wbinfo" and "getent". The problem lies in "id": it does not update its user<->group mappings when they change on AD, even if

FreeBSD 9.1 + Samba 3.6.12 : Winbind sid lookup issue
Hey Samba list. We recently had to switch from 3.5.x to 3.6, due to the ports tree dropping 3.5 Since then, I've have had issues with the looking up users consistently. It may work for 30 minutes, and then stop. I finally started to run winbindd -i -d and here are some of my findings: Environment: OS: FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE uname -a: FreeBSD pkg-server 9.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE #0

Samba (3.6.12) - Different Home Directories for Different Users
Hello, I am using Samba (3.6.12) with Gentoo Linux (Kernel Version 3.7.10) and I have a system integrated with Active Directory (the Microsoft Windows servers are running 2008 Enterprise Edition, Release 2). All is well on that front (I can log in, directories are created, etc.) What I would like to do now is have different /etc/skel directories for different groups. So, for example, if

winbind authentication FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER [samba 3.6.12/AD/openindiana(illumos)]
Hi, My OpenIndiana (opensolaris) machine is joined to Active Directory. I'm using samba 3.6.12 from OpenCSW. wbinfo -u is working fine, getent was not working in the beginning, but after some fiddling with libraries it was working ( I had to create the following two symbolic links, not sure if they both are correct) /lib/libnss_winbind.so -> /opt/csw/lib/libnss_winbind.so.1

Issue compiling Samba 4.11.6 with GNUTLS 3.6.12 (Not standard location)
Hello, I try to compile Samba 4.11.6 on an old SLES11 machine. There is an old GNUTLS installed. Since I do not have root access and I have to use a newer GNUTLS-Version, I have installed gnutls-3.6.12 in a different location and set PKG_CONFIG_PATH appropriately. The configure script has run successfully, but when I run make (with verbose option), I get this error: 17:44:33 runner

Unable to get Samba-3.6.12 to authenticate using ADS
I have a Samba-4 system running as an Active Directory server. It's working great: computers are joined to it, users are logged in, etc. Good job Samba developers, and thank you! But of course I am not satisfied. Now I want to configure another server (well, a VM) as a file server using Samba-3.6.12. I want it to refer to the Samba4 server for all user authentication. My understanding of
