request: HOWTO for Samba4.latest AD PDC
I'm looking for an up-to-date howto on using Samba as an AD PDC. I've been using Samba since the days of yore, but have recently acquired the resources to take another stab at implementing an AD system using Samba. Perhaps it has escaped notice that the page with the link text "Official HOWTO" on samba.org points to https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/

temporary profiles problem - don't want roaming profiles
I have a Samba PDC (Ubuntu 12, OpenLDAP 2.4.28, Samba 3.6.3), and at two remote sites, I have some Samba BDCs. For now I've manually entered the DCs as WINS servers on the workstations I'm using for testing. At the remote sites, I can log in with an account that has no logon path or logon home specified, and it works perfectly. But at the main site, when I try to log on to one of these

There are three ways of doing this: In smb.conf Affect the following settings and ALL clients will be forced to use a local profile: logon home =

How to manage partitions and logical volumes with puppet?
Hi, As someone new to puppet I''m trying to work out the best way to manage different filesystems and logical volumes on different servers. Specifically I would like to be able to define on a series of nodes different LVM logical volumes to create and mount. I''m trying to do this at the moment with a define of the following type: # Manage a partition and create if needed.

VmBuilder released
At the prompting of several kind souls on the list, I''ve placed an early release of my Virtual Machine Builder gem on rubyforge at http://rubyforge.org/projects/vmbuilder/. Documentation at http://vmbuilder.rubyforge.org/ The gem builds Xen masters and Xen based VMs from scratch using Debian that are ready to accept Rails apps (although at the moment it is missing the Web server part!).

/proc/mounts always shows "nobarrier" option for xfs, even when mounted with "barrier"
Ran into a confusing situation today. When I mount an xfs filesystem on a server running centos 5.4 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.18-164.9.1.el5, the barrier/nobarrier mount option as displayed in /proc/mounts is always set to "nobarrier" Here's an example: [root at host ~]# mount -o nobarrier /dev/vg1/homexfs /mnt [root at host ~]# grep xfs /proc/mounts /dev/vg1/homexfs /mnt xfs

I am currently using a Dell PowerEdge server R610 with Xen 4.0 installed and the 2.6.31.13 pvops kernel. I am accessing the server console using the iDRAC KVM feature of the dell management console. Does anyone know how to configure the console option in the grub menu so that all the boot messages can be seen on the mgmt console? Currently I can view only the Xen bootup messages if I dont specify
