optimization challenge
I have a challenge that I want to share with the group.
This is not homework (but I may assign it as such if I teach the appropriate class again) and I have found one solution, so don't need anything urgent. This is more for fun to see if others can find a better solution than I did.
The challenge:
I want to read a book in a given number of days. I want to read an integer number of

Change Rcode for a meta-analysis(netmeta) to use a random effects model instead of a mixed effects model
Hello,
I am writing a meta-analysis on the complication and reoperation rates after 5 treatment modalities of a distal radius fracture. I have a code to compare the complication and reoperation rates. Currently it is using a mixed effects model. Is it possible to change the code so a random effects model is used?
Thank you very much,
Jay

Model studies in one analysis using treatment as a five level moderator in a meta-regression
Hello,
I am medical student, writing a meta-analysis on complication and reoperation rates after the five most common treatments of distal radius fractures. I have been busy with the statistics for months by my self, but find it quite hard since our classes were very basic. Now I want to compare the treatment modalities to see if there are significant differences. Using R I was able to

The code in your mail in a mangled mess, since you posted in HTML. Please configure your email client to send emails in plain text.
Could you explain what exactly you mean by "Currently it is using a mixed effects model. Is it possible to change the code so a random effects model is used?"
Best,

Model studies in one analysis using treatment as a five level moderator in a meta-regression
hi Jay,
Consult a local statistician. Statistics is not you think is (namely
simple computations, R and probably plotting..).

Dear Vito,
Thank you for your reply. I tried to contact the statistics departement numerous times, but did not receive any reply. That is why I started to look on the internet for help.
Yours sincerely,
Jay

New to the list ... Looking for any recommendations inre: VMWare Vs. Xen
I'm new to the CentOS arena and I'm curious as to what virtualization
products are preferred?
The two main ones that I know of are Xen and VMWare. VMWare seems to be
the most capable inre: number and size of vm's allowed. When looking at
Xen it appears that since Citrix acquired them the free version is
cripple-ware and is very restrictive.
Thanks in advance for any information.

DW_OP_implicit_pointer design/implementation in general
Hi folks,
I am pushing a PoC patch https://reviews.llvm.org/D70833 for review which
includes the case when temporary is promoted.
For such cases it generates IR as
call void @llvm.dbg.derefval(metadata i32 3, metadata !25, metadata
!DIExpression(DW_OP_LLVM_explicit_pointer, DW_OP_LLVM_arg0)), !dbg !32
And llvm-darfdump output looks like

to an extended dbg.value representation might take more work. Alok, wdyt?

feature that seems incomplete and more invasive than really seems justified

feature to have a nuanced/fully informed opinion & so maybe I just need to
step back from all of this - but given the addition of new intrinsics, it

DW_OP_implicit_pointer design/implementation in general
Let me try to summarize the implementation first.
At the moment, there are two branches.
1. When an existing variable is optimized out and that variable is used to
get the de-refereced value, pointed to by another pointer/reference
variable.
Such cases are being addressed using Dwarf expression
DW_OP_implicit_pointer as de-referenced value of a pointer can be seen
implicitly (using another

problems with samba 3.x
I upgraded from Samba 2.x to Samba 3.x on my FreeBSD box. I used the
ports collection to do it. Currently, samba is at
samba-3.0.10,1
I did a rapid test of after make install from a windows XP box. It
worked fine. I also test from another samba client on linux. Again,
all was fine
However, when I attempt to access this server from ANY windows 2000
box I get the message:

[LLVMdev] Configure problem of llvm2.5 in Mac OS X 10.4.11
Hi,
I am trying to install llvm 2.5 in my PowerPC machine. I have already installed XCode Tools 2.4.1.
I can compile programs using gcc run them.
I try to configure llvm 2.5, the configuration aborts with following message:

Mac OS X client problem with supplementary groups
I have a very simple Samba 3.0.1 install without LDAP/ADS/winbind
support compiled into it. I have noticed a strange problem with
supplementary groups I noticed with Mac OS X (10.3.2). The SAMBA
server is using 'ntdomain' authentication.
When someone connects to the SAMBA server and gives their username in
uppercase (the OS's default), then none of the secondary UNIX groups
