Solving Equations
People, I'm researching some Bayesian statistic topics and in the midle of my study i found a very simple problem and i'm trying to find a simple package to solve this type of equations: Lets say that i need to compute beta values for the beta distribution and i now for example: E(teta)=a/(a+b) = 0,5 Var(teta)=ab/((a+b)^2(a+b+1))=0.05 So if i want to solve this to non-linear system to

Maximization
hi people, I'm trying to maximize this function: fn= function (x) {x[1]^2+5*x[2]^2} with this restriction fn1 = function (x) {x[1]+x[2] <=5} Can someone help me how to procedure this? I tried in the alabama and genoud package but i have problems with the setting of constrains. Regards, Eliano -- View this message in context:

survey package: weights used in svycoxph()
Dear R-help, Let me know if I should email r-devel instead of this list. This message is addressed to Professor Lumley or anyone familiar with the survey package. Does svycoxph() implement the method outlined in Binder 1992 as referenced in the help file? That is, are weights incorporated in the ratio term (numerator and denominator) of the estimating equation? I don't believe so since

[LLVMdev] New Alias Analysis Algorithm
Hello LLVMDev, I'm George, an intern for Google who will be working on LLVM. Currently, I'm starting to implement a set-based Alias Analysis algorithm for LLVM, which looks like it may be more accurate than Steensgard's, and can be constructed in approximately nlog(n) time and linear space (n = number of memory locations; queries happen in constant time). It will most likely be

file descriptor leak in getSrcLines in R 2.10.0 svn 48590
I noticed the following file descriptor leak when I couldn't remove a package unless I shut down the R session that had loaded and used it. The function that triggered the problem printed the output of a call to parse(). Each time one prints a srcref a connection is opened and not closed. It looks like it happens in as.character.srcref's call to getSrcLines, which has some logic I

clusterwise regression from fpc (fixed point clustering) package
hi there, whenever i try the clusterwise regression from the fpc package, there occurs the following problem: the first cluster is always designed in a way, that when i run a normal linear regression on the independent variables to describe the dependent variable (only on those respondents from the first cluster) - then the regression uses only one independent variable that describes the whole

BIC vz SBIC vz SIC
DeaRs, I have a doubt about: BIC (Bayesian Information Criterion) SBIC (Schwartz Bayesian Informarion Criterion) SIC (Schwartz Information Criterion) In many references these are know as the same (eg. stepAIC() function) but I just found a SAS8.2 output that show either the BIC and SIC values for a logistic regression.. simillary values but different. 1) question: What are the differences?

E-Business 11i.9 and RAC 9.2.0.3
Hi, I am currently involved in a project with E-Business 11i.9. For the production enviroment, ct. wants to implement Load Balance and Fail Over - both middle tier and database tier, the last with RAC. As E11i creates lots of tablespaces, the best way seems to be OCFS. We installed & configured OCFS partitions. The next step was to install E11i multi tier, single instance - already

Dimensioning a telephony system based on openser!
Hi, I've sucessfully completed an Openser 1.3.2 + Mediaproxy 1.9.1 + Asterisk 1.4 + CDRTool with freeradius telephony system. Asterisk is used only for voice mail and redirectioning calls. Every calls should pass through mediaproxy so that i can account them. The goal was to create a simple prototype of what could be a VoIP provider. Now i need to dimensioning this system to work

[PATCH 1/5] fat: fix minfatsize for large FAT32
Hi Ady, On 2016.02.25 02:08, Ady via Syslinux wrote: > There is an "extra" sector, in comparison to... what exactly? Sorry if I wasn't clear. I think I implied that the Large FAT32 fat size had an extra sector compared to minfatsize, when of course I meant the opposite (the Large FAT32 has one less sector than the minfatsize computed by the unpatched code, hence the check

Disabling specific port-forwarding
Hi all, I have a server where I allow some people to do SSH port forwarding for SVN, GIT, since I need to do that to access these services in certain locations. I can't access SVN ports in some work locations. Thing is, I also give specific access to some user accounts, mainly git and svn user, to some people I don't fully trust to have access to my VNC server, which is without password

divide centos-announce
I was thinking the last few days, wouldn't it be better to divide the centos-announce list by the archs, so that if I'm interested in the i386 arch, I only get those, and not the ia64, or the s390. Just a thought. -- 21:50:04 up 2 days, 9:07, 0 users, load average: 0.92, 0.37, 0.18 --------------------------------------------------------- Lic. Mart?n Marqu?s | SELECT

[PATCH 1/5] fat: fix minfatsize for large FAT32
When trying to installing Syslinux on a FAT32 drive formatted using Ridgecrop's Large FAT32 formatting tool [1], the installer will bail due to the minfatsize check, as there is an extra sector being used. This fix addresses that. [1] http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm -------------- next part --------------
