Approximate taylor series
Hi All, Say I have the values of function f(x1,x2,x3,x4) for each values of x1,x2,x3,x4 but not complete. But the functional form is not known. Techniques like regression, etc. are not able to give me satisfactory results and msy be more complex than we thought. I wanted to use Taylor's approximation to continuous function, to approximate a functional form using the given data. But failed

Problem in encoding/decoding speech in Win CE
Hi, I am trying to encode raw wave data stored in a buffer using the Speex API (The raw wave data is created using the waveIn* functions - probably irrelevant information here). It is a 5 second clip, 16bits/sample, 8000Hz mono (which gives a buffer size of 80kb for the wave data). I have followed the exact procedure found in the manual available from the web site, except that

Multiple Integration
Dear all, May I do multiple integration using R? I was looking adapt but it is saying it integrates a scalar function over a multidimensional rectangle. I have integrand of several variable and upper, lower limit too variable. I wanted to see the result using adapt (though it is not for this purpose, I suppose) Func<-function(x){(x[1]*x[2])} adapt(2, lo=c(0,1), up=c(1,x[1]), functn=Func) it

question about output of files copied/deleted
It seems to me that this output would be more useful if it were possible to uniquely translate a line of output back into a file path. Right now that's not possible due to the control character encoding. An output line like asd\#002\#003zxc could either mean a file of that name or asd^B\#003zxc or asd^B^Czxc or asd\#002^Czxc I was hoping to start with rsync -n, figure out what was going to be

Most used R editors
Hi, I am a little lonely as R users in my group. So, I would like to know which editor is the most used in the R community. This post is some kind of survey. Personally, I use Emacs with ESS, It permits to : - open more than one R session - split the emacs editor as many part as you want. - use a lot of keybindings. ... This i have to start for each row. And I want to assign no. of rows needed including that row too(it to be 10 or 10+, the moment it exceeds 10, i

More factor names in x axis, how?
I have some data which records, amongst other things, age (recoded by me to be in months), and drug group (a factor). The drug group is a 2 digit number, but there is no numeric relationship, and only 50 of the possible groups occur So > asd <- read.table("asd.dat", header=TRUE) > asd$group <- as.factor(asd$group) > plot(age ~ group, data=asd) gives me a series of

Question about is.na for missing data
Greetings, I am trying to a simple mean imputation using the following command (yes, I know it is not an ideal way to impute missing data) asd[is.na(asd)] <- mean(asd,na.rm=TRUE) This has worked quite well in the past. Now, however, I am getting the following error messsage. Error in `[<-.data.frame`(`*tmp*`, is.na(asd), value = c(2433.64150943396, : rhs is the wrong length for
