SPAM: Get Rich NOW!!
Hello root@inet.hkg.com, It looks like someone, at your end, is leaking SPAM into the Samba list. The apparent source of this SPAM is <inet.hkg.com> which, unbelieveably, is a real address. They are then relay-raping the Singapore Network to get it into this list. After careful deliberation, I have conciously decided to forward this one message into the samba lists. All future SPAM

rsync not prompting for username, only password
Hi guys, can anyone suggest why, when I connect to my rsync server, I'm not prompted for a username and password but instead I'm only prompted for a password? I have "auth users = username" set in /etc/rsyncd.conf and a corresponding entry in /etc/rsyncd.secrets but still rsync only asks for a password. Solaris winbind with password aging (workaround inside)
A few days back, I asked whether it was possible to have winbind co-exist with password aging on a Solaris system. Seems like there is no easy way around this. After a few more days of frantic poking and truss-ing around, I found a crude but seemingly workable workaround. It seems the the library /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 is the one responsible for checking that the passwd entry in

strange password problem with rsync
Hi guys, I am experiencing a very strange problem with passwords and username with rsync. I have a "auth users" line in my /etc/rsyncd.conf file (see below) and a corresponding username and password in my /etc/rsyncd.secrets. The strange thing is is that authentication for the module listed in /etc/rsyncd.conf (unixadm) only works IF the username in /etc/rsyncd.secrets is the same as

rsyncing read-only files
Hi guys, I have a simple question regarding using rsync when one has read-only files on the src machine. My situation is the following: I have two machines, call then A and B. I'm using rsync on B to download from A (I'm running rsync in daemon mode on A from inetd.conf). The rsyncing on B works fine except for one problem: when I run rsync on B to do the downloading from A, I get

how to convert by lists in data.frames
Dear R-helpers, I’ve got a summary of results from a by() call that I am making with a list of more than two of factors not very different from the example in the by() help page require(stats) by(warpbreaks[, 1], warpbreaks[, -1], summary) The result of the command gives a list of the form wool: A tension: L Min. 1st Qu. Reading data from a dataframe
Thanks for the replies to my prior question. My problem is that R always says object not found when I enter a variable name into a command. I converted a Stata file into an Rdata file by first loading the foreign package by entering require(foreign) Then I asked R to read the Stata file by entering pol572a1<- read.dta("C:\\alex\\Graduate Coursework\\Pol 572\\pol572a1.dta") So

Re: Ext3-users digest, Vol 1 #793 - 9 msgs
It is most likely that your grub.conf file is _different_ than menu.lst. grub.conf is just a dummy symlink made by RH under /boot/grub as well as under /etc to make peoples lives easier. (Or harder as the case maybe) If the contents of grub.conf is what you want to use for your bootup listing.. cd /boot/grub mv menu.lst menu.lst.bak cp grub.conf menu.lst rm grub.conf #optional step ln -sf
