p-value in changepoint package
Hello Does anyone know how to get the p values for changepoints in the
"changepoint" package? There is guidance in the CRAN vignette
https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/changepoint/changepoint.pdf but I
can't make it work to get the p value out... Thanks Nick Wray

weird things in seqMK() and sqmk()
Hello The other say I posted a question about altering confidence limits
in the seqMK() function in the pheno package. I didn't get any bites but
in any case I've been trying to use this function. It seems to me to give
very odd results - sometimes identifying 8 or 9 changepoints in a
relatively short vector of maybe 40 elements, and at other times not giving
any changepoints at all,

changepoint analysis
Hi, all,
I'd like to find one or more changepoints in a dataset
eg
for data like
0.9 1 0.8 0.8 0.85 0.3 0.9 0.9 0.9 1.1
0.3 is unlikely a changepoint
but for data like
0.9 1 0.8 0.8 0.85 0.3 0.2 0.2 0.1 0.2 0.3
0.3 is a change point
I am wondering is there any function can do changepoint analysis?

Best way to compute the difference between two levels of a factor ?
Dear R-help Members,
I am wondering if anyone think of the optimal way of computing for
several numeric variable the difference between 2 levels of a factor.
To be clear let's generate a simple data frame with 2 numeric variables
collected for different subjects (ID) and 2 levels of a TIME factor

Input file format to Anova from car package
Dear list member,
My question is related to input file format to an Anova from car package.
Here is an example of what I did:
My file format is like this (and I dislike the idea that I will need
to recode it):

I am trying to define groupings from levels of factor variables and this the warning message that R give

The nature of my task is this. I have a variable stage which has the levels (1B, 2A, 2B) - these are the AJCC TNM stages of cancer, and another variable diameter with factor levels ("=< 4", "4 - 6.5, > 6.5; limit values are

Calculating diameters of cirkels in a picture.
Hi,
Maybe this is more a programming questions than a specific R-project question, but maybe there is someone who can point me in the right direction.
I have a picture of cirkels which I took with a digital camera.
Now I want to use the diameter of the cirkels on the picture for analysis in R.
I can use pixmap to import the picture, but how do I find the outside cirkels and calculate the

barplot with a probability density curve
Dear all,
I am making a barplot as following:
barplot(c(1,2,3,5,2,3,1),names.arg=c("100","200","300","400","500","600","700"),xlab="diameter",ylab="flow",main="some title",space=0.1)
I am also trying to add a probability density curve, however using

I got one problem with comparing strings like if any string is like

and i have to compare "*GRAY-WHITE*" with the above string
or otherwise i have to compare " *TUMOR BENIGN*" this string

Dear list
I'm trying to solve the following problem since 2 days with no success.
Could someone help a newbie, please ?
I have a dependant variable which is diameter of shell, and two factors
which are level on the beach (3 levels 'B', 'E' and 'H') and a hydrodynamics

Help with Bartlett's test on linear model
Hi all,
I would like to test the homoegeneity of variances between several
linear model for some analysis of covariance. It seems that the
Bartlett's test is a good test to use but I am having problem using with
linear model and I cannot find any examples on the internet. There are
some examples for comparisons of variances but not linear models.

How to put factor variables in an nls formula ?
Hello,
I want to fit a Gompertz model for tree diameter growth that depends on a 4
levels edaphic factor (?Drain?) and I don?t manage to introduce the factor
variable in the formula.
Dinc is the annual diameter increment and D is the Diameter.
