SAS raid controllers
Is anyone running either the newish Adaptec 5805 or the new LSI (3ware) 9750
sas raid controllers in a production environment with Centos 5.3/5.4?
The low price of these cards makes me suspicious, compared to the more
expensive pre-merger 3ware cards and considerably more expensive Areca
ARC-1680. I've been 'burned' by the low cost of Promise raid cards (just as

My firmware seems to be more up to date. Anyway, I will try to update
firmware. I have to check how to do that.

Hardware raid LSI Megaraid not working since Centos 6.6
Happy new year !
We have a SuperMicro server with a LSI MegaRAID 9260-4i controller.
Since Centos 6.6 update (kernel 2.6.32-504), the controller doesn't
initialize at boot. Reverting to kernel 2.6.32-431 allows server to boot
fine.
The server can't boot due to a bug in LSI megaraid module. Boot log ends
by a lot of lines:
RESET_GEN2: retry=xxx, hostdiag=a4
I tried Centos 6.6

LSI/3ware 9750-4i and multipath I/O
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has successfully configured two lsi/3ware 9750-4i series controllers for multipathing under CentOS 5.7 x86_64?
I've tried some basic setups with both multibus and failover settings, and had repeatable filesystem corruption over a iscsi(tgtd) or nfs3 connection.
Any ideas?

RAID controller recommendations that are supported by RHEL/CentOS 8?
Hi,
I'm currently looking for a RAID controller with BBU/CacheVault and
while LSI MegaRaid controllers worked well in the past apparently they
are no longer supported in RHEL 8:
https://access.redhat.com/discussions/3722151
Does anybody have recommendations for for hardware controllers with
cache that should work in both CentOS 7 and 8 out of the box?

7.0-Release and 3ware 9550SXU w/BBU - horrible write performance
Hi,
I've got a new server with a 3ware 9550SXU with the
Battery. I am using FreeBSD 7.0-Release (tried both
4BSD and ULE) using AMD64 and the 3ware performance
for writes is just plain horrible. Something is
obviously wrong but I'm not sure what.
I've got a 4 disk RAID 10 array.
According to 3dm2 the cache is on. I even tried
setting The StorSave preference to

tws bug ? (LSI SAS 9750)
Hi,
I have been trying out a nice new tws controller and decided to enable
debugging in the kernel and run some stress tests. With a regular
GENERIC kernel, it boots up fine. But with debugging, it panics on
boot. Anyone know whats up ? Is this something that should be sent
directly to LSI ?

Recommendation for PCI-e SATA RAID 5 card?
Hello:
I am looking for a recommendation for a PCI-e
RAID card for my server. The server has a
PCI-e x16 low profile slot so the card has
to be at most 6.6 inches long x 2.536 inches
high. I would like to use RAID 5 with 3 drives
so I have to have those capabilities.
It has to be CentOS 5.4 compatible (Of course!).
I took a look at the offerings from 3Ware, but
their cards are too long.

2.6.9-42.ELsmp kernel and 3ware 9550 tools
I have the latest kernel with the drivers for my 3ware 9550SX built in.
Where
can I find the tools and monitoring apps for this card? Are there rpms
hiding
somewhere, or do I need to build it from source?

More info on 3Ware 9550SX from the field (in case anyone else is interested)
From a buddy of mine that has spent a little time with the new cards.
This was in response to my email asking about his impressions of them:
It just came out in mid-September. There are a couple reasons I'm
not thrilled with it:
1) no 8-port multilane version (only 12)
2) the 8-port non-multilane version is a kludge, connector-wise (a row
of 3 double-stacked connectors along the

HW experience
Hi,
we would like to establish a small Lustre instance and for the OST
planning to use standard Dell PE1950 servers (2x QuadCore + 16 GB Ram) and
for the disk a JBOD (MD1000) steered by the PE1950 internal Raid controller
(Raid-6). Any experience (good or bad) with such a config ?

OK. And I'll tell you that none of the failures that I've seen in the
last 15 years were a result of user error or poor configuration.

3ware RAID controller scripts
Hello list, I see through the archives that some people here use 3ware
RAID controllers with Centos. I have picked up two 9500S-4LP
controllers for future servers. I was hoping that if some people could
please share their 3ware monitoring scripts with the rest of the
group. What I am really hoping to do is have some setup where a cron
job runs scripts to test each of the drives connected to the

Internal RAID controllers question
Dear Experts,
one of the RAID threads today prompted me ask everybody.
Which internal hardware RAID controllers will survive some future to come
in your estimate. First of all my beloved 3ware finally seems to have
passed away. After multiple acquisitions and becoming part of LSI and
getting bought with LSI, it probably became non operational. Namely, the
latest 3ware cards have ancient
