Centos7 - SELinux messing with my named.conf
Well, actually it is me cp-ing files and SELinux yelling at me later... I had named working, but detected that I had a couple clean ups to do in /etc/named.conf and an include file in /etc/named. I made the changes, scp to my user id from my notebook, 'su' in my ssh session and cp the named.conf and other files. Made sure to fix the file ownership with chown

remote yum update aborted with session closing - won't boot
I was upgrading a system remotely from Centos 6.3 to 6.5 via VNC. Now the system will not boot. Or at least without bringing up the console and switching to the older kernel. The last messages I see in /var/log/messages are: Jul 1 14:53:51 rigel yum[3220]: Updated: scl-utils-20120927-8.el6.i686 Jul 1 14:53:53 rigel gnome-keyring-daemon[2710]: dbus failure unregistering from

Xen 3.2.1 - Win 2003/2008 Server 64-bit guests: cygwin bash builtin "test" crashes
Hi - I have built a number of Windows based appliances under Xen 3.2.1. Each was created on an AMD based machine and includes a clean install of a Windows OS and cygwin. Each worked fine. I then rsync'd the images to three different Xeon based machines, each running an identical version of Xen. On these machines, under the 64-bit OS's, the cygwin bash builtin test ("[")

RHEL6 domU migrate issues w/ higher to lower frequency CPU''s
Hey folks, I''ve encountered a rather interesting/frustrating issue with RHEL6 domU''s and live migration. I have no problems booting a RHEL6 domU using its stock/native kernel on Xen 3.4.1 or Xen 3.4.3. But in terms of live migration, there seems to be a problem when moving from a higher (in terms of CPU MHz) to lower (MHz) system -- even if the higher of the two is

compressed folder bug
I found a strange behaviour in dovecot compressed folder, maybe a bug. It happens only if you have one (and just one!) email in a gz compressed folder. I'm talking about a mbox server. Step to reproduce: - create a new folder, using any client (I think this step is not important, it happens also if tou create this folder server-side). - copy one message (any message) into newly created

dovecot-lda can't create /var/mail dotlocks on debian
I've been using dovecot+postfix happily for many years, and I'm now configuring it for a new machine. However, I'm running into an old problem again, and thinking that there must be a better solution. The problem is that dovecot-lda is unable to create dotlock files in the /var/mail directory. Dovecot version: 1:2.2.13-12~deb8u1 (I'm guessing this is upstream version
